If you’re looking for a little escape to the Caribbean without leaving Gatineau, I highly recommend this place on Boulevard Saint-Joseph. The food was absolutely phenomenal. I had the chicharrones with fried plantains and yuca, and everything was so flavorful and delicious. The fresh passion fruit juice was amazing too. What I loved most was how authentic the whole experience felt. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, and for a moment, I genuinely felt transported to the Dominican Republic. The atmosphere, the food, the music , it all felt like a cozy little Caribbean getaway. Bonus: they also have karaoke every Friday, which makes the vibe even more fun and lively. Definitely a hidden gem worth checking out.

I ate good food, rice with tilapia and red snapper. I was served as well with a very fresh juice. This is place I recommend some one while in Gatineau to visit El Meson Dominican
Went for brunch on Mothers day, being a family that enjoys the Dominican Republic for the people, culture and food this was an obvious choice. The food is authentic Dominican with a few canadian type options like spaghetti etc. The food was very flavourful and portions very generous. Would have loved to see an Asopao on the menu 😀 maybe in the future. The service was very friendly, welcoming, and at a reasonable pace. If you are looking for a great place to have a meal with family and/or friends and you enjoy authentic Dominican cuisine I highly recommend this restaurant. We will be returning soon 🙂
A very nice Dominican restaurant. The morir soñando was delicious. The mofongo was very. I would have liked it with more sauce but still very good. I will be back.
Authentic experience with traditional Dominican Republic dishes and drinks. To get initiated, let the server suggest you what to try, but make sure you have the fried pork if you like pork belly style tapas oh and the drink named dying dreaming is quite good if you like the orange cream pop flavor. Ambiance puts right in Dominican Republic getting in and many Hispanic speaking regulars will help make the experience even more authentic and enjoyable.
From the moment you walk in, this Dominican–Colombian restaurant makes you feel at home. The atmosphere is warm and vibrant, with music and energy that instantly set the tone for a great experience. The food is outstanding—full of authentic flavor and clearly made with care. Every dish feels like a perfect blend of Dominican and Colombian traditions, from perfectly seasoned meats to rich, comforting sides. You can taste the quality in every bite. What truly stands out, though, is the service. The staff is incredibly attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. They go above and beyond to make sure everything is just right, creating an experience that feels personal rather than routine. If you’re looking for delicious Caribbean-Latin cuisine paired with excellent service, this place is absolutely worth visiting. Chicharrón one of the best i ever had
Amazing authentic dominican food! We had mofongo and it was delicious. The server was very friendly! Strongly recommend!
Excellent service, pleasant atmosphere and delicious food. I had the Mofongo with shrimp in cream sauce - a delectable Dominican dish!
My husband and I had a wonderful experience in this lovely place! The food is amazing, the service was excellent and the staff super friendly. I really recommend this restaurant for everyone, especially for the Brazilian people. The food it's going to make you feel almost back to home.
El sancocho is the best soup ever. Morongo with fried pork. El meson dominicano is the best Latin restaurant in Canada.
We were there for a family dinner, the appetizer was soooooo delicious! We ordered Canastikas platano! With fried pork! My goodness! You have to try it! I didn’t have snapper fish for so many years! Because it’s bony fish but I risked it! I’m so happy that I did! It was crispy like chips! Even the bones! Deliiiicious! The rice and salad were good too! The passion fruit drink was lovely tasting like heaven! Also, our server, she was the sweetest! Apparently they have kareoke every Fridays 7-9 ! Maybe you can enjoy the food and kareoke in a positive cozy resturant in the neighborhood. I recommend this place for sure!
First time going and we will be going back! Everything we ordered was excellent, the service impeccable, and the vibes chill. Highly recommend the plantain with fried pork appetizer.
Loved this place- the chinola juice and tostones are great! Our waitress was helpful and kind.
This place is 5 stars. Food, music, nice staff. Everything was great. We got the Picalonga and all the meat was super tender and juicy. Super honest price!
A beautiful restaurant. The service was exceptional. This was my first experience going to a dominican restaurant and everything that was suggested was delicious. We will definitely return!
Everything was divine from the ambiance to the music to the lovely waitress/restaurant owner who happily explained every menu item to me in thorough detail. These people take great passion in their business and that part of Gatineau is very lucky to have such a lovely establishment on one of their most main streets.
Delicous parillas mixtas as always!
Great food! From entrée's to dessert everything was delicious!
Delicious and flavourful food, attentive service, and an atmosphere that feels welcoming and warm. Will definitely be back
I felt like I was home. Delicious soul food, relaxing Caribbean vibe and exceptional service! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
