Food was very tasty. We travelled from Ontario out of GTA we tried the best Indian food. Serving is very small one dish is enough for one person.
Reviews / Ratings for Desi Taste (Québec city)
I was there Friday night and honestly the restaurant was completely packed — every single table was full. Most other restaurants nearby weren’t even taking orders that day, so the wait was understandable. The staff were incredibly busy but still friendly and doing their best. I personally waited around 30 minutes which is totally normal for how busy it was. And once the food arrived, it was absolutely worth the wait. I feel bad seeing this review because the team was working really hard that day.”
Best Saag paneer we ever had.
Get more staff please! We were waiting for our order taken for at least 30 minutes, and then for our order to come 40 minutes. The people that are working there are very nice, but it’s just overwhelming to see them struggling to meet everyone’s orders. The food was okay, even though I asked to make it non spicy, they still made it spicy and we couldn’t eat it. The chef that came and said that this paneer is always spicy is absolutely right, but I specifically asked the waitress if it could be made mild - please make sure all staff understands it. If you want to eat here - just order a take out online - it seems like they prioritize it more than people coming in person.
I can’t even give any stars for food here! Because even after waiting for more than 1 hour- me and my family did not even get anything served. Upon entering they made it very clear that service is first come first serve basis. But guess what….people who came after us got served first, and to their surprise forgot about us completely!! No hygiene, no customer service, I don’t know who gave this restaurant 4.1 stars. While leaving the restaurant dissatisfied and disappointed, we see people grabbing their orders from the back door. An employee had an audacity to tell us again that all food is fresh and is first come first serve based. Which is completely false. I hated being a customer here. If a team isn’t able to manage a food business. Please shut it down.
Really good food!
In Quebec City, only one restaurant truly captures real Indian flavours in their food: Desi Taste especially when you order from Uber Eats. I recently ordered their Shahi Paneer and chicken Naga via Uber Eats, and the dishes arrived bursting with authentic spices, bold aromas, and genuine Desi warmth that no other local spot matches. From creamy curries to sizzling tandoori, every bite via delivery feels like home.
I ordered food from this restaurant through Uber. The food was flavorful, the lamb biriyani was perfectly cooked, the portion was generous. Beef vindaloo and shrimp masala came with just the right amount of rice. They were both spicy as mentioned on the menu. I ordered an extra rice thinking the small rice that comes with curries might not be enough, but it was. The food was money’s worth. Authentic desi flavors.
Their food was so good i would go eat there again for sure! They were so nice and sweet, they welcomed us so nicely.
I came with my friends to eat there and the food was so good specially the chicken, beef and lamb biryanis . The service was also great!
Exceptionally good Indian food with great spice. Kind staff and comfortable atmosphere
“Best restaurant in Quebec City, I have eaten in many places and didn’t like their food, but yesterday I went to Desi Taste and ordered the fish pakora, lamb biryani and chicken Naga Wow—the fish pakora was amazing, and the biryani chicken naga were too good!”
Foods was really good, authentic taste and wonderful service
I enjoyed my meal thoroughly. Excellent service
I honestly don’t get why their own people keep criticizing Indian restaurants. I’ve been to this one so many times and never had a single issue — the food’s always delicious, the place is super clean, and the people there are really nice!
The roti was dry and felt like it was made hours ago. The sabji lacked flavor and tasted very oily, and the dal tadka was watery with almost no proper tempering. Not worth the money at all. The sabji was too spicy and overloaded with oil. You could barely taste the vegetables, and it felt very heavy. Poor balance of flavors
This is one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever experienced. We ordered a lot of food online, but one item was missing, and the food we received was neither fresh nor good. I tasted like leftovers. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
The roti was extremely chewy, and we couldn’t even finish it, especially considering how expensive it was. The curry was just as disappointing—honestly horrible. Overall, a very poor experience. Would not recommend eating here.
We did not enjoy the food at all. The roti was very hard, the sabji had too much oil, and there was no taste. Overall, it was a very bad experience for all of us.
Authentic food at a good price. Spicies are just right and quantity also good. I went with my family and ordered Biryani and chicken jalferazi and it was delicious. We came back next day for pick up too. Definitely recommend
Yesterday, my family and I dined at Desi Taste Restaurant. The food was outstanding—every dish tasted fresh and flavorful. The service was excellent and staff were attentive throughout our visit. Although our meal took a bit longer to arrive, it was clear that everything was freshly prepared, which made it worth the wait.
Food is okay, a little pricey for what you get. Wait is long, ordered a soup and main dish waited for about 45 min. Staff is nice though. Overall it was okay!
I rarely write negative reviews, but this experience was genuinely disappointing. As someone familiar with authentic Indian/Pakistani cuisine, it was disheartening to see such low-quality food being served to a non-Indian community—it gives the wrong impression of how rich and flavorful our cuisine truly is. The lamb vindaloo was completely off. Instead of a bold, spicy curry, it was filled with potatoes, broccoli, and green peppers—ingredients that simply don’t belong in a traditional lamb dish, especially not one that’s meant to highlight the richness of the meat. The chicken curry was equally confusing—overly oily with an unclear flavor profile. The only redeeming part was that the chicken thighs themselves were tender, but that alone couldn’t save the dish. The rotis turned hard and rubbery within minutes, making them difficult to enjoy. The naan wasn’t authentic either, but at least it remained soft longer than the roti, which made it slightly more palatable. Ordered at 8.30pm and got delivered at 9.45pm. Overall, this felt like a complete waste of money. Honestly, a simple pizza would have made for a much better family dinner. Experiences like this make you regret not choosing something else—and unfortunately, we ended up relying on pizza for days afterward. Very disappointing.
