Another GP Canada ... and another fabulous dinner at Darbar. Our family visits beautiful Montreal each Spring to take in the Canadian Grand Prix. And each Spring Darbar is number one on our list of must-visit restaurants. The Punjabi cuisine is truly phenomenal--culinary genius combined with unabashed passion. Thank you to Simar and the staff at Darbar for yet another memorable F1 family "Dinner at Darbar" experience. Simply amazing!
What guests say about Darbar
Darbar is highly praised for its flavorful Indian cuisine, often described as fresh, well-seasoned, and carefully prepared, with several customers highlighting dishes made to order. Personalized service comes up repeatedly in the reviews, with a very present, attentive chef and warm, accommodating staff. A few reviews do mention areas for improvement, such as wait times, a sometimes limited space, and a few dishes considered too sweet or inconsistent. Overall, it is a highly recommended spot for a friendly and delicious dining experience.

Had such a great experience at Darbar Restaurant! The food was absolutely exceptional and felt incredibly authentic to Indian cuisine. The lassi especially was a true Punjabi experience The atmosphere was beautiful, and there was even live music when I visited which made everything feel extra special. Most importantly, the service was outstanding. You can really tell the head chef is deeply passionate and dedicated to what he does, and it truly shows in every detail Highly recommend!
Amazing food and friendly staff.
What a delight this restaurant is! Chef Simar visited us at the table over dinner before taking our order, and even checked on us after preparing our meal. The garlic naan was to die for; every curry and dish we had was painstakingly made lactose-free for us, and we couldn't be more pleased. The Patialo Sunrise was delectable; the Ambala Whiskey Sour delicious. Please come support this excellent business!
Ordered veg Thali, Shahi paneer and garlic nan I could have gone for zero stars but Google does not allow. 1) starting with Thali all food was spilled and messed ohk maybe it could be a mistake of delivery guy. 2) I got a very weird combination of baigan bharta , nan Palak with chana and plain rice who eats them together? This shows their laziness that what they have already made for Ala carte they give in Thali no pre decided thing that's why they haven't even put on their uber to choose. 3) first bite of any I mean anything, the massive level of turmeric they add ohh my god straight to the dustbin. People who have come from job and tired please do not order from this place ull sleep Hungary...
I’ve had the privilege of enjoying Indian cuisine across many countries, and this restaurant easily ranks among the very best. My colleagues and I had an outstanding experience from start to finish. A special thank you to the owner/chef for taking the time to speak with us personally and for the excellent recommendations — they truly made the meal memorable. 🙏
Only great things to say! Thank you to chef Simar and our waiter Arindom. An amazing experience as usual from the food to the service. They provide an unique experience and personalized menu which shows how much they care for their clientele. My favourite indian restaurant in Montreal, by far.

I just had one of the most delicious meals I’ve ever had! The chef does indeed greet you personally and help you select dishes. Highly recommend!!
The waiter, Arindom, really makes the experience 100x better. He is fantastic!
We asked for moderate spicy and the food wasn’t spicy at all, in the contrary, It was very sweet (definitely cooked with sugar), and I am not a fan of sweet curry’s
chicken tikka masala was very sweet ! , pakora so oily ,the vegetable in the rice taste fresh , not coming again
Incredible food and great staff. We’ll be back for sure. Thank you!
Chicken butter : the best in Mtl Lamb : ok Mango Lassi : so so too sweet too liquid
I’ve been a long-time fan of this place, but hadn’t been back since the father and original owner passed and his son took over. I’m so glad I returned. We were greeted by the son/chef himself, who was warm, attentive, and clearly committed to carrying on his father’s legacy with care and passion. He took the time to ask us a few questions to “get to know us,” then chose our dishes himself, which made the whole experience feel personal and thoughtful. I love when there’s a real family story behind a restaurant, and you can feel it here. The appetizer was outstanding — a chicken kebab dish served in an oven-style presentation, full of flavor and beautifully done. Our mains and dessert were equally delicious. Best naan I have had in a while. My friend and I both loved the experience. We ate very well and found the pricing fair for the quality and care. Service was warm and attentive. Will definitely be back.
dont trust the opening hours shown. whilst tgese are the posted hours they close up to an hour earlier without warning
This is one of those lovely, little ‘hole in the wall’ restaurants with an owner chef who takes pride in what he serves. If I lived in Montreal I would be a regular. We enjoyed every bite!
Wonderful experience. Food delicious! We loved it SO much we came again the next evening!
Always amazing here. Good prices and such a personal touch with the staff and owner!
Darbar has been one of my partner and my favorite restaurants in Montreal and we often celebrate special occasions there. The chef and staff are always accommodating and friendly and the food and drinks are fantastic. We always try something new when we’re there and are always amazed by the complexity of the flavors and the quality of each dish. It’s clear how much work and intention goes into every detail. Last night we went for my partner’s final night in Montreal before he leaves for the summer and we had a wonderful experience. We ordered the non-vegetarian thali, the seekh kebabs, and the madrasi bakra to share and were blown away by everything we ordered. I also highly recommend the cocktails on the menu, especially the whiskey sour which is phenomenal.
Outstanding food and service.
We had an outstanding meal! What amazing, complex flavors so carefully prepared and beautifully presented. Gorgeous. We will be back.
