We asked for moderate spicy and the food wasn’t spicy at all, in the contrary, It was very sweet (definitely cooked with sugar), and I am not a fan of sweet curry’s

I’ve been a long-time fan of this place, but hadn’t been back since the father and original owner passed and his son took over. I’m so glad I returned. We were greeted by the son/chef himself, who was warm, attentive, and clearly committed to carrying on his father’s legacy with care and passion. He took the time to ask us a few questions to “get to know us,” then chose our dishes himself, which made the whole experience feel personal and thoughtful. I love when there’s a real family story behind a restaurant, and you can feel it here. The appetizer was outstanding — a chicken kebab dish served in an oven-style presentation, full of flavor and beautifully done. Our mains and dessert were equally delicious. Best naan I have had in a while. My friend and I both loved the experience. We ate very well and found the pricing fair for the quality and care. Service was warm and attentive. Will definitely be back.
dont trust the opening hours shown. whilst tgese are the posted hours they close up to an hour earlier without warning
This is one of those lovely, little ‘hole in the wall’ restaurants with an owner chef who takes pride in what he serves. If I lived in Montreal I would be a regular. We enjoyed every bite!
Wonderful experience. Food delicious! We loved it SO much we came again the next evening!
Always amazing here. Good prices and such a personal touch with the staff and owner!
Darbar has been one of my partner and my favorite restaurants in Montreal and we often celebrate special occasions there. The chef and staff are always accommodating and friendly and the food and drinks are fantastic. We always try something new when we’re there and are always amazed by the complexity of the flavors and the quality of each dish. It’s clear how much work and intention goes into every detail. Last night we went for my partner’s final night in Montreal before he leaves for the summer and we had a wonderful experience. We ordered the non-vegetarian thali, the seekh kebabs, and the madrasi bakra to share and were blown away by everything we ordered. I also highly recommend the cocktails on the menu, especially the whiskey sour which is phenomenal.
Outstanding food and service.
We had an outstanding meal! What amazing, complex flavors so carefully prepared and beautifully presented. Gorgeous. We will be back.
This was fantastic!! The most delicious and innovative Indian cuisine. The service was excellent - the server was knowledgeable and prompt. The owner and head chef visited the table personally to check in as we ordered and as we ate - he is a lovely man who is so wonderfully passionate about his work! We can't to go again and again whenever we visit Montreal.
This is an incredible restaurant. The chef came to our table and helped us craft a perfect dinner. We were with our two young kids who’d always been lukewarm on Indian food. Now they want to drive 5 hours to go back again.
Delicious food, great service. Very friendly staff. Every dish we had was great and they even dose the spice level according to your liking. You can tell everything is made on the spot and with fresh ingredients
Some of the best Indian food I've ever had in Montreal. The ambiance is nothing special, however the food more than makes up for it. Try the place and you will believe! Just don't judge the decor before you take a taste of the food.
Best Indian food we’ve had in Montreal. And the chef comes out to the dining room.
A absolute must. The food, the service & the love poured into every dish. As a lover of Indian food, this has by far been one of the best I’ve had. Will definetly be back! Adorable, cozy & delicious.
Best Indian restaurant, food is fresh, staff is friendly, just come you won’t regret it!
You can't go wrong with any of the menu items, all the food here is great. Tonight we had a birthday celebration and they were very accommodating, even bringing out a candle and singing! The only downside is the restroom, it really needs attention. Everything else is great.
The food was amazing!
Goated
Came for an early dinner tonight and had a wonderful time. The staff was very courteous and kind. Food was amazing. Will definitely be returning once in the area again!
I was visiting my son at university and took him and some friends for dinner. We showed up without a reservation as a party of 6 on a Friday night and luckily they were able to squeeze us in. The restaurant is quaint and welcoming. We asked the waiter to help us choose a mix of dishes that we could share and he didn’t disappoint. Everything was delicious! The service was fabulous and the chef made sure to introduce himself to all the tables. We will definitely be back but I’ll make a reservation next time to be sure we can get a table because it was a busy spot.
My partner and I had an amazing date night dinner here. The veg thali and egg plant Bartha were both excellent and we really enjoyed that the chef came out to explain the menu and ask us how our meal was going. Highly recommend!
