I'm obsessed with this place! I come here everytime I'm in montreal, and trust me thats often. It's a great place for friends, family, i even brought my god daughter there and she ate some of the food! The service, the food, the atmosphere, experience, everything is just wonderful. It's also fun! Doing you're own cooking, mixing the different dishes of the buffet, it's just great! Highly recommend! ❤️
Reviews / Ratings for Daldongnae Korean BBQ
I came here solo, exhausted and incredibly hungry. To be fair, the food tasted good—though honestly, I was so starving that anything would have tasted good at that point. However, $70 for tiny portions of chicken thighs and short rib is a total rip-off. The service was terrible and slow, but the worst part was the "get out" vibe. I went to the washroom and came back to find the bill already sitting on my table. No hospitality at all, just a rush to get me out the door. I won’t be back.
Nowhere on the website does it say that an 18% tip is imposed on groups of 6. Springing this onto our group right before our meal is unethical and serves to dodge consumer protection laws barely. Additionally, 18% when we're the ones doing the cooking is....ambitious at best
The food's fine and well. But a bit pricey for the small amount of meat and rushed atmosphere. The flume in the middle also makes it awkward to speak with your diagonal friend.
We ordered the beef short rib and beef short plate for a table BBQ, and the meal came with a generous assortment of complimentary sides. These included corn cheese, steamed egg, fresh lettuce for wraps, soybean stew, and around five additional small dishes, which added nice variety to the meal and made the table feel full. The meat quality itself was solid. The beef options are also halal! Both cuts had a good balance of fat and lean, which helped keep them juicy and flavorful as they cooked on the grill. They developed a nice sear without becoming dry, and overall the BBQ experience was enjoyable from a taste perspective. The steamed egg side dish was soft, well-seasoned, and paired really nicely with the richer, heavier meats. However, the pricing felt quite high for what we ordered. For just two meat dishes, the total came out to nearly $80 including tip, which is expensive for a BBQ spot, even considering the included sides. It didn’t quite feel like the portion size justified the cost. Service was another downside. It was noticeably slow throughout the meal, and at one point we actually had to get up and call a waiter because no one was checking in on our table. That lack of attentiveness took away from the overall dining experience, especially for a place at this price point where you’d expect more consistent service.
Super BBQ
The only Korean bbq I would go to. The meat portions vary but it’s not too bad. You get quite the selection of side dishes and FREE refills! The service they can work on but it’s not that bad either. They do ask you to order one meat per person so if you go as a group be prepared to pay for that
One of my favorite K bbq in the world, the food is really nice, and the service too!
This is my favourite Korean bbq everything was fresh and good , but the lettuce taste bitter :(
Really good overall, meats are a bit under seasoned but they give you a decent amount of sides. Prices are a bit high for the amount of meat you get. Tons of flavours of soju.
This is the closest to real Korean BBQ you'll ever have. You can even order in Korean if you'd like. Unlimited banchan .
Awful experience. I was waiting for the seats but the server told me that I can’t stay indoor because they have a big group people coming. I asked if I can stay in the entryway since it was raining outside. The answer was no. Not sure why. Another couple with 2 little kids were kicked out of the door in the rain as well. I believe we come for food but not for begging food.
Food was excellent. Restaurant is right downtown Mtl, not far from Guy métro. Service is fast. Meat is really fresh, Soju is great. Soup and pancake are savory. BRAVO 👍
This has always been my go-to KBBQ place. I’ve been going to the original location ever since they opened and the experience has been very consistent over the years. The new location is the same (if not better), with less waiting times. I also found out that it’s Halal so it’s a big plus for such an authentic KBBQ restaurant. The vibe is always immaculate, the service can be slow at times but understandable as it gets really hectic depending on the day of the week. It’s great for big groups or between friends. I just love this place so much and will always go back. Thank you Daldongnae team for all your hard work! 🙏🏻
Our party of four was quite impressed with the service and the food.
The hostess was rude on the phone, even more rude when you show up.
Good
My first time eating here was on March 26th and I had the pleasure of dining with my Korean friend. My friend explained the meaning of the name and interior features which make this restaurant quite special. The choice of meats is outstanding and the cuts were authentic Korean. The meal was great as was the service. It was a fun experience that can be enjoyed at any pace. The server was very helpful with ensuring my gluten allergy didn't get me into trouble. We were not rushed and were allowed plenty of time to enjoy the classic Chamisul soju. I highly recommend Daldongnae and look forward to returning soon.
Went in not wanting to eat here, came out with a food baby. Delicious even for non adventurous people!
They were super accommodating for our group. People were nice, food was great i will be back!
The meal quality are great ! I really enjoyed it !
Food was great but pricy. Nice server. Enjoyed food anyway.
Being Korean, I can say the food is 100% authentic Korean, and the meat quality is amazing. Even with a late reservation, all the servers were super friendly and attentive. I didn’t get their names, but the manager and the Korean male server were also very kind. I will definitely be coming back, and honestly, this might be the best Korean BBQ in Montreal!
Had such a nice time here !!
Don't be shy to ask for advice if this isn't your expertise, never had a bad experience here
