Dear Cora’s Corporate Team, I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding a deeply disappointing and concerning experience at your Montreal location. On the date of our visit, my party and I were the first customers in line waiting to be seated. Despite this, we were left waiting approximately 30 minutes, during which time every group that lined up behind us was seated ahead of us. We were only acknowledged and seated after one of us explicitly raised the issue with staff. When this was brought to the attention of the hostess/server, we were told that staff “didn’t realize we were in line because we were speaking English.” This explanation is troubling and unacceptable. Language should never be used as a reason to ignore or deprioritize customers, and this comment raised serious concerns about discriminatory treatment. Unfortunately, the service issues continued after we were seated. We waited 1 hour and 10 minutes for our food, and it took 30 minutes before we were even offered coffee. During this time, multiple tables that had been seated after us received their food well before we did. No proactive communication or explanation was provided for the delays. Taken together, these events made us feel ignored and singled out. As visitors from Ontario, the experience left us with the strong impression that we were treated differently because we were English-speaking and out-of-province. I am bringing this to your attention because this situation reflects poorly on the Cora’s brand and raises concerns that warrant review. I respectfully ask that this incident be investigated and addressed internally to ensure that all guests are treated fairly, professionally, and without bias. I would appreciate acknowledgment of this complaint and information on any steps being taken to prevent similar experiences in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to write to us and share your feedback about your recent visit to our restaurant. We take all concerns seriously, especially those involving perceived unfair treatment, and I have personally reviewed the details of your visit. First, regarding the wait to be seated: On a busy day with a lineup extending outside in the cold (as is common during peak times), a 20-30 minute wait for the first available suitable table is unfortunately normal, even for those at the front of the line. We seat groups based on table size availability and party composition to ensure efficient turnover, not on language or origin. Reservations are always an option to guarantee seating without wait, and we recommend them on high-traffic days. I investigated your specific interaction with our team. The statement attributed to staff - that you were overlooked 'because you were speaking English' - is inaccurate based on accounts from multiple team members present. Our hostesses are primarily English-speaking (as am I, the owner of this location), and seating decisions are made solely on operational factors like table readiness and group size. Making unfounded allegations of discrimination is not only harmful to our business but also deeply unfair and upsetting to our young staff members, who were working hard under pressure to serve everyone as best they could on a very rushed day. Regarding service after seating: Our records / kitchen bills show your table was served food within approximately 35-40 minutes, not the 1 hour 10 minutes claimed - and coffee was offered sooner than stated. While we strive for faster service, on exceptionally busy shifts with human staff (not machines), occasional longer waits can occur, and we apologize if communication during the delay fell short. We are proud of our team and committed to fair, welcoming service for all guests, regardless of language or province. Your experience does not reflect our values or standard practices, and we regret any impression to the contrary. If you'd like to discuss any further you can contact me directly at [email protected]. If you wish to escalate this directly to Cora's corporate head office for further review, google is not the place for it. Please visit the official Cora Breakfast and Lunch website at www.chezcora.com and use the 'Contact Us' section (or call customer service at 450-435-2426, Monday to Friday) to submit your formal complaint—they handle such matters centrally. Best Regards, Owner Cora - Greenfield Park

Disappointing experience. We waited about 20 minutes just to be seated, and during that time the host attempted to seat people who arrived after us until we spoke up. After finally being seated and placing our order, we waited over an hour for our food while multiple tables that were seated after us were served well before we were. We’re from out of town, and as English speakers it genuinely felt like we were treated as a lower priority. Whether intentional or not, the service was inconsistent and frustrating. Good food can’t make up for poor service and lack of basic fairness.

Hi Karam, Since this is from the same group as your friend Kayce review (same visit), please see my detailed response there addressing the wait time (20-25 min standard on busy days), seating process (based on table size/availability, not language), service timing (~40 min for food), and why claims of bias are inaccurate and harmful to our primarily English-speaking staff. We regret the frustration and hope you'll reconsider on a future visit. Best,

Nice place for breakfast, lunch, or brunch. The staff is friendly, the food tastes fresh, and the overall experience feels warm and welcoming—almost like visiting a family member. Natalie was our server and truly went above and beyond to make our experience great.
