Delicious banh mi. We really liked the quality of the bread. The butter in the banh mi definitely elevated it. Service was fast with complementary hot tea.
What guests say about Chez Yên Vietnamese restaurant
Chez Yên seems to offer authentic, flavorful, and comforting Vietnamese cuisine, with several very positive reviews of the phở, bánh mì, spring rolls, and vermicelli. The menu is often described as simple or limited, but well executed, with service generally warm, fast, and attentive. A few customers noted that it is small and sometimes cramped, that there can be a wait, and that one or two dishes can be uneven, especially the phở according to some reviews.

Food was delicious, with this being one of the best bahn mi we've had with the bread being perfect! They were Able to make the vermicelli vegetarian, and it too was delicious. Friendly and inviting, I would love to go again.
A friend and I visited this places because it was said to be a local gem however, the experience was the complete opposite. You have a higher chance of getting a better service at a mcdonalds than here. The customer service was non existent. We waited a good 15 minutes to be acknowledged/be seated and we did make eye contact with the server (one of them even passed us to go outside but they said nothing). We ordered the pho (somewhat surprised they only have the 1 pho dish) and it was disappointing to say the least. The broth was not clear (it came pre-seasoned with chili oil), the noddles were very little, and barely any meat. I wouldn't complain about it but they were charging $18 for it. We also had the fried spring rolls which was OK. I did have to flag the server down about it and was told that they couldn't make spring rolls because they didn't have any plates but they can give me the fried ones instead.... which was exactly what we ordered.
No frills restaurant with nice staff and DELICIOUS bahn mi served on crusty bread. Very reasonable prices as well. Great quick lunch spot.
Excellent food at a good price!
Pho and vermicelli noodles were both really yummy, service and atmosphere was nice too!
Small menu of best sellers. Vermicelli with beef was excellent. Very busy, but one young server managed Very well.
Amazing pho I think the best I’ve ever had! 🙏🏻
I had an amazing time here with my friends. The service, the art, the food everything was perfect. I had everything on the menu and it was all really well made with fresh ingredients.
If you cant speak perfect French don't bother, no points for trying and you'll be openly ignored by staff. Worst service in Quebec

Casual dining experience with excellent tasting food (just right). Free seating but get there early as it gets crowded. Service was great and quick if food ordered quickly.
Incredible food, incredible service, and most of all, incredible people. Isabelle is an exceptional person who makes you feel at home as soon as you walk through the door. I can’t wait to get back there after my trip to Montreal. It’s so delicious !
Very low key homemade Vietnamese place. They had a very limited menu and everything we ordered was great and very fresh. The complimentary hot tea however was over brewed and a bit bitter. We ordered Vermicelli bowl and Pho and both were very different from the other places I have had.
I lived in Vietnam for six years and have searched all over North America for pho that hits the same way. This is in the top 3 easily. INCREDIBLE.
Ok, you're overly cheesed, sugared and buttered from the usual fare in Quebec, then you stumble across Chez Yen. Yes! A small menu, but what they do, they do very well. Besides the other reviews about what has a Quebec style influence in the food (banh mi, anyone?), the noodle and pho offerings are huge, 'clean' tasting (as in not so salty, etc.), laden with fresh vegetables, and delicately spiced. Yum!
Had to order the spring roll twice😊😊. That was amazingly delicious 😍
An amazing little hidden gem of a restaurant. The service was on point—friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious, and the Vietnamese coffee was the best I’ve had anywhere in Canada. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared and well executed. On top of that, the prices were more than reasonable, which made the whole experience even better. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to and recommending.
The lunch I had I have ordered hundreds of times at other restaurants but I've never had one better than this. The food was simple but cared for and outstanding in every way. The waiter was charming and his wife who is the cook very talented.
Went here with my family. Price was very affordable and children friendly. The food was delicious. Thank you when we come back we know we're to eat.
It is a lovely quiet restaurant right in the middle of old Quebec. We were greeted with a pot of green tea and room temperature water (a real luxury in Quebec where all you get everywhere is freezing cold with ice cubes floating sometimes, which I totally cannot drink no matter how thirsty I am). We ordered spring rolls, banh mi and the vermicelli with meat dish. Each one was awesome. The portion size was good. The two of us were really full at the end of the meal. The proprietor lady os always smiling, an added bonus. Oh, you should try the pineapple coconut milk! We had lunch here on a special Saturday. It was amazing 😍.
Incredible, authentic Vietnamese food served by lovely people in a cozy setting. I highly recommend the pork vermicelli bowl or the tofu bahn mi! A wonderful place to get some fresh, unique flavors amongst the heavier fare that is more common around QC.
Small and cozy place with very nice atmosphere. Food was delicious and they welcomed us with a hot cup of tee :)
Just don’t order the pho. Worst I’ve ever had. Banh mi is good but the pho taste like salty soup with chili. For 20$ it’s a rip-off. Don’t… take… the… pho… you’re welcome in advance ;)
We ordered the chicken vermicelli bowls and they were DAMN amazing 😊 We waited in the dining area which was colorful, had warm friendly vibes and the server gave us a drink while we waited 💛 Next time we pass through, we will definitely order here again!!!
