If you want a quick hot dog and delicious fries. It's a great place for it. Lots of parking and tables outside to enjoy the nice weather.
What guests say about Chez Ma tante
Chez Ma Tante is often described as a Montreal classic for hot dogs, fries, and poutine, with many customers finding the food excellent and the retro style charming. The service is often seen as fast, friendly, and welcoming, but a few reviews mention annoyances such as inconsistent portions, dishes that are sometimes lukewarm, and varying quality. It’s a good option if you’re looking for an iconic, simple snack bar, especially for hot dogs and fries.

This place is as classic as casse-croute gets. The building itself is quite old and gives the purest retro vibes. The positioning of the parking lot and the wrap-around drive-thru makes it feel like a restaurant you'd find in some small town far out the city. Service was fine. The menu is small and focused on the casse-croute essentials. I went for the Quebec classic- a steamie and a poutine. The steamie was perfect, these things typically don't vary much. The poutine was also super good. I am personally a melty cheese curd guy over a squeaky one, but this one almost won me over to the other side. The gravy was perfectly tuned for a poutine. Such a satisfying fix for casse-croute.
Jowie was amazing ! i was so sad coming to Matante n she was a sumchine to my day
Cool old-school Greasy spoon building and the staff was friendly but the PORTIONS for the price were very disappointing 10$ for a poutine. They didn't even fill up the container it was hardly half full and not even enough Fries to go past the top of the lid. I'm a born and raised Montrealer and I gave this place a chance but I'll stick to Lafleurs and La Belle Provence if this is the questionable size of poutines! I get shrinkflation but this is just ridiculous Potatoes and Poutine sauce ain't that pricey cheese curds I get if you're being cheap... but I was given 2$ worth of Fries. What a JOKE ...if your running a business and you gotta cheap out on customers ...you ain't gonna get that many repeats. BEWARE PORTIONS are SO SMALL
Beautiful place and delicious food!
Poutine’s good! But it’s not hot enough. I thought it was just a one off time, but lately I’ve been getting it and it’s barely warm.
Great delicious sweet fries homemade style
Poutine was delicious and the steam hotdogs too !
Hands down! Best hot dog place in Montreal! Highly recommend!
Such a cute spot with a great vibe! There are plenty of outdoor tables, and the string lights make it even more charming. The service was 10/10 — they noticed our dog in the car and brought him a sausage and some fries… so sweet! Everything came out quickly, and the food was really good. I loved the poutine — the cheese was perfectly squishy, and the sauce wasn’t overly salty like usual, which I really liked. The fries were great too!
The best fries and hotdogs
Best Poutine and Hot Dogs in the area, hands down. Price is amazing too
The hot dogs are so good. The poutine is amazing. Staff well it’s part of Chez Ma Tante, nothing but the best. 100% recommended
Best hotdogs and fries in Montreal and they also make poutine which is very good as well. Open til 4am drive through.
Is it even spring break if you don’t take the kids to Chez Ma Tante?! Excellent service and best old school poutines!
Best fries I've had in a long time. Will go back and try the burgers.
Stopped by while visiting from Boston, amazing hot dogs and fries, great local vibe. If you’re in Montréal, definitely check it out. We’ll be back next time we’re up here.
Very small area to eat inside ( only standup) but in the summer and spring you get to eat outside on the picnic tables. Hot dog and poutine are famous.
Love the poutine here. especially late nights Wednesday's. 🤤💯
Seriously the best of the best. Worth the detour from anywhere in the city. ✨
The best steamie dog on earth
Ordered off uber eats today. I dont expect it to be crispy after sitting in a closed container for half an hour but the fries were incredibly dark, almost burnt and the gravy wasn’t my preference. Not enough salt or light seasoning.
GREAT SERVICE. EMPLOYEES ARE VERY FRIENDLY AND BEST FRIES IN MONTREAL
Spectacular hot dogs and fries. Possibly the only place on Montreal serving Shopsy hot dogs.
I walked there for 40 minutes and then when I went there, my hotdog was thrown in and it was so quick that there was mustard on one side and four onions. I think that I’m really disappointed in the service it might have been the day or the worker.
