One word. INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS 🤌🏼
Reviews / Ratings for Chez Lionel - Montréal
My husband and I were in town for a short visit and stumbled into Chez Lionel on a whim, without a reservation. We were greeted very warmly and shown to a table where we enjoyed a phenomenal meal. Everything, from the cocktails to the lobster bisque, fried oyster mushrooms, duck confit, hangar steak, and charcuterie and cheese board, was absolutely exceptional. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming, but John's service was outstanding. I would absolutely recommend Chez Lionel in a heartbeat!
Best thing on the menu is the Beef Bourguignon! It was delicious !! The crème brûlée was also a very good choice for dessert .We sat at the bar and our waiter was amazing! He was super friendly and knowledgeable. The manager was very polite and friendly as well. I was not a fan of the fried calamari and would have enjoyed softer , warmer bread , but had a nice experience!
Great service with our waiter Amine!
When we went, there was an event menu where you can get one starter and one entree for 50$ CAD, which is a really good deal! The salmon tartare was great, slightly sour and very creamy, but the duck confit was amazing! A wonderful sweet salty sauce and soft duck with crispy skin. Would recommend!
Oysters were terribly small and not tasty. Negroni cocktail contained practically no alcohol. Food did not justify the price.
The burger was a 3/10 but the rest was good. However, everything is too salty. Great service and ambiance!
I went for a business lunch, arrived 5 min before, asked for the reservation name and they placed me at a different table than my client (same reservation name). Thirst time for me, at least a good remember for my customer and I
We dined at Chez Lionel on a weekend evening. The food was ok - but not up to par for what we paid. The steak tartare was weirdly seasoned, duck confit sauce stuck to the plate which was too hot, salmon tartare was bland, ravioli undercooked and grainy, and creme brulee was the thinnest I've ever seen. The restaurant is beautiful, but the quality could be improved. Edit: reached out to email owner sent and got no response.
Frank is the best ♥️
Frank - simply the best.
Frank was fabulous 👌 he had all the best cocktail suggestions and menu advice. We were in good hands - a lovely evening!
Good spot
True to the stereotype of French fine dining: the portions were incredibly small, yet the prices were very high. To make matters worse, there was no flexibility in the menu—diners are forced to choose their '3 or 4 course' meal from a very limited set of options. That’s it.
It would take a long time to write, but to be honest, the food is incredibly delicious and the service is all very good and enjoyable.
Frank Excellent
Just wow- impressive from A to Z, service food everything- Barman Franck especially TOP NOTCH
By far, best of everything, food, service, décor, ambiance. Tip of the hat to Franck! Meilleur service à Montréal. LIONEL ALL THE WAY!
Update ** Following their response I proceeded to contact them via email as they proposed only to be left without a follow-up… Awful customer service. I reserved for a group of over 30 people a month in advance. The GM clearly proposed that we could choose from the lunch menu ($42) or the group menu ($60). He even confirmed that both menus would be placed on the table. Two days before our reservation, I called again to double-check, and they confirmed once more that we would have access to both options. But on the day of the event, the staff suddenly refused to let us order from the lunch menu. It felt misleading and unprofessional—especially after multiple confirmations. For a large group booking, this lack of transparency and last-minute change is completely unacceptable. I would not recommend this place for group events. As for the food, I ordered the risotto and was shocked at how undercooked the rice was. Instead of being creamy and tender, it was hard, grainy, and honestly unpleasant to eat. A basic risotto should never leave the kitchen in that state.
