We visited as a large group for a birthday celebration and were disappointed to find that many of the menu items we wanted to order were unavailable. It's surprising that a restaurant would run out of several of its most popular dishes on a Saturday night, especially during peak service hours. Our waitress was friendly and did her best, so this is not a reflection of her service. However, after spending approximately $150 per person on food, wine, and drinks (12 people in total), the compensation offered for the limited menu availability was a single complimentary shooter per guest. Unfortunately, it felt more symbolic than meaningful and did little to address the disappointment. I understand that unexpected situations happen, but strong customer service is often measured by how a business responds when things don't go according to plan. In this case, the gesture did not match the level of inconvenience experienced by our group and left us feeling undervalued as customers. I was hoping to leave with a more positive impression, but unfortunately, this experience does not encourage me to return.
What guests say about Chez Lionel – Boucherville
Reviews are very mixed, but many customers praise the attentive service, pleasant atmosphere, and the brunches or lunches. Several also mention well-executed dishes like the tartares, beef cheek, house fries, and certain desserts. On the other hand, others find that some dishes lack flavor, are overcooked, or are too expensive for the portion size, and a few people were disappointed by the menu change or the noise.
Reviews / Ratings for Chez Lionel – Boucherville
Stopped for drinks and had a couple of starters. Calamari frite and onion soup balls. Both were excellent.
We waited a long time for our drinks at the beginning. Then the food took forever to get there. Service was fine, but they messed up the orders more than once. Food was okay, nothing crazy. Personally, I wouldn’t go back.
Other than the tall stool/banquet, I don't like them very much, everything was perfect for a brunch with mom. She liked it too. My suggestion is if you liked normal table ask for it during you reservation or it could be a plus to offer the option in the reservation service. They had multiple group that Saturday so it is understandable has why we had to go either at the bar or the tall stool/banquet area.
The best breakfast place on the south shore is Lionel! Excellent brunches & excellent service : )
I went here on a Tuesday or Wednesday night with my family due to a power outage on my street 2 months ago, I decided on the restaurant due to the positive reviews and we were disappointed. Maybe they use less experienced chefs on a weeknight. I got the duck breast and it was medium in the centre but it was still tough to eat and chew, and the flavour was lacking. The vegetables were hard and not tender, my children got the mac and cheese and burger kids meals. The Mac and cheese was off - my kids could not continue eating it and we agreed with them after tasting it. I think they use really aged cheddars or funky cheeses that made it less palatable to our taste buds. I think they added the aged cheeses to the burger making it less enjoyable as well. The only decent meal was my husbands he got the beef cheek bourguignon . It was the better tasting meal but something about it was still off, too many competing flavours?
Food can improve! Too much sauce serving in main dishes
We chose this restaurant after seeing such great reviews, but unfortunately our experience didn’t live up to expectations. We were two families of three and found the food to be quite mediocre and very expensive for what it was. The $130 rib eye steak arrived overcooked, which was especially disappointing at that price point. The foie gras brioche was just okay, the calamari was very basic, and the salmon tartare was bland and lacking flavour. Most of the other dishes were fine, but nothing stood out. On a positive note, the drinks were great and the kids’ meals were a good value. Overall, we wouldn’t return.
Great brunch. Loved the poached eggs, duck, bacon and potatoes, delicious 😋 the apple bread yummy. Great service 😀
