This restaurant is awesome, at the time we went(4 to 6 pm) is quiet and great to talk to the people you're with, the whole place has old school vibes which I love. Staff is friendly, and the food ee tried was delicious, specially the onion soup.

Great atmosphere and food. I took a star off for service because the waitress insisted on using English even though I speak French. I find this annoying as an American whose French is very good. My only other complaint is that the English Pub does not have any English beers that I could see. Irish stouts and red ale are good but not English. There must be some bottled English ales that are available in Quebec even if there isn't any English ale in kegs. If not, they could stock an English style ale brewed in Quebec, I think there is an ESB brewed in Quebec.
Can you let people sleep on a monday night? Heavy music at 11pm on a monday is crazy. Especially Bruno Mars. Many thanks
Had a wonderful dining experience… felt like being in Paris. Food was amazing, Alain was warm and welcoming, Cali was attentive, warm and sparkled! We’ll definitely be back!
We had a great time, Mr Alain is very friendly and takes the time to talk to each and every table, which makes the spot special!
Loved my experience at Chez Alexandre et Fils. Great food, great service, and such a nice vibe. Definitely coming back!
It's was a very good experience
Always a pleasure going to Chez Alexandre et Fils. The food is consistently delicious and the staff is super welcoming. Merci Alain
perfect atmosphere and really tasty dishes.
Had a great experience at Chez Alexandre et Fils. The atmosphere is super nice. Food was honestly amazing. Everything we tried was fresh, flavorful, and really well done. You can tell they care about quality. The steak was cooked perfectly. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Montreal.
Really cool place, reminded me of cafe in Paris. Great food, very welcoming. Loved the idea of offering small portions on top of regular menu. Happy 50th Anniversary!
Very good food and service, quality food with a reasonable price, the service very personable and make you feel like a VIP , highly recommend and definitely worth the visit. We will return to dine again.. 5 Diamonds 💎💎💎💎💎
Best service with the best bartender I had the pleasure to meet!!!
went with my bosses from Vancouver. They loved it!! Excellent service and the food was delicious as usual
Iconic place. The food, drinks, atmosphere are always beyond satisfactory. We’ll never stop coming here, it’s truly a gem of a place for us.
Just the food is so disappointing… like idk learn smth from Chinese restaurants. There no reason for the disappointment in such a lovely atmosphere
This restaurant was recommended to us by a staff member at the Residence Inn. We were pleased to be able to order from their 50th anniversary menu which was very reasonably priced. We had the steak Onglet and the beef bourguignon. My husband loved the beef bourgignon and my steak was perfectly cooked, served with frites. Complimentary cheese puffs and bread were brought to our table. Our server (Daniel) was very friendly. Raspberry sorbet completed the meal. We planned to dine here a 2nd time but didn't make it back during our short stay.
Amazing service, very friendly and professional staff, classy and elegant atmosphere. We visited on St. Paddy’s Day and enjoyed an amazing Irish stew alongside others dishes. Everything was delicious!
If you’re looking for a refined, laid-back environment to enjoy a quality cigar, this spot is an absolute must-visit.
My family had a great Saturday relaxing time Chez Alexandre. Loved the owner presence. The ice cream profiteroles was amazing. Only down point: No Kids menu.
This is one of my favourite restaurants in the whole city. The owner is a sweetheart and they’ve got a 50th anniversary menu on right now!
Best french restaurant in Montreal. Alain is the best.
Unfortunately left very disappointed. - The service was sub-par, it took an extremely long time to even get our drink order in and there were only two other tables in the entire restaurant. Once we finally received our drink order, I could not drink it because it tasted so awful. It was definitely made incorrectly , so I had to send it back. - Reading online , I expected there to be more options for myself to eat (I am limited due to being celiac). And I quite literally had 2 items off the entire menu I could choose from, and neither were great options. - The food was not great at all. - The atmosphere was not at all what i expected. - Our waiter kept changing; everytime they came back (which took a LONG time sometimes) it was someone different, which did not allow us to build any sort of relationship with our own waiter. All in all, mediocre at best. Do not feel the need/want to ever return. Definitely not the place for us!
A truly classy, well-established restaurant celebrating 50 years in business — and it shows. The staff are polished, attentive, and genuinely professional, creating a warm and refined dining experience from start to finish. The food is incredibly fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. I especially appreciated the healthy, low-carb option — a delicious salmon and lentil special that felt both satisfying and thoughtfully crafted. The cod croquettes were a fantastic way to start, and I finished with a refreshing mango sorbet served with a delicate sesame cookie and a perfectly made cappuccino. An elegant, memorable meal all around.
I loved this restaurant. The staff were so friendly and the food (beef carpaccio and salmon with lentils) was delicious. ♥️
