I can't remember the last time I was at Chalet Bar B Q since leaving the city but I know one thing is for sure.... It hasn't changed one bit. Still amazing service, the best damned chicken and nostalgia.

On Sunday evening I called to place a takeout order and was told that orders cannot be placed in advance — you must come in and order in person. Odd policy, but fine. I drove over. When I arrived, the cashier immediately told me I was standing in the wrong place. Okay. But instead of simply directing me or taking my order, she then proceeded to ignore me entirely while I stood there waiting. For over seven minutes I stood at the counter ready to order. No acknowledgment. No “we’ll be right with you.” No explanation. Just staff walking around while a customer stood there waiting to give them money. Eventually I realized no one had any intention of serving me, so I left and went somewhere else. What makes this especially frustrating is that this restaurant probably serves the best BBQ chicken in the city. Unfortunately, the front-of-house experience is so indifferent and disorganized that it completely ruins it. Good food is not enough if customers are treated like they’re invisible. Until management understands that basic concept, the chicken simply isn’t worth the aggravation.

The place to go for chicken. My family has been eating there for years. Our favourite place for BarBQ chicken. Half chicken with a baked potato is my recommendation !

*Edit dined in Great basic food Crazy disappointed that the Coconut cream pie is a Mccain deep n delicious . Never dined in since its not the best location car wise but if you want a basic , chicken , coleslaw, sauce, and fries, this is the spot

Best chicken on earth plain and simple! So juicy and tender. The skin is to die for, tastes like charcoal hardcore. The fries are the best fries I've ever ate, the sauce and coleslaw too! I've been going to chalet bbq since I'm a young child, always stayed the same. The atmosphere is old and rustic, it has its charm, the waitresses are so nice.The ultimate comfort food! If you guys ever wanna sell the restaurant or franchise it I'm in 100%!

Since 1944 this place has been a staple of NDG. As the birthplace of Swiss Chalet this is what they are modelled over. Great food. Dipping sauce will cure what ails you! Friendly service and fast too. As great as I remember it as a kid with my family. Thank you for staying true to what makes you great! Oh and atmosphere is straight from back in the day as well!

A true Montreal icon. The best BBQ chicken in Canada, by far. Dine in to experience a restaurant that hasn’t changed its decor in half a century, which is part of what makes it so fun. Fun, friendly staff.
