Very disappointing. Tao chicken and rice were not fresh at all, calamari was 90% breading with way too salty sauce. And pad Thai sauce was again super salty, basically noodles with orange salt sauce. No fragrance or layering of flavors you can usually expect from pad Thai.
Reviews / Ratings for Café Saigon
I’m not sure why this restaurant receives such high praise. It’s quite average. I’ve eaten a ton of authentic Vietnamese and this place doesn’t compare.
This place is a joke. Ordered #16. Vermicelli with chicken and spring roll, a side of rice and a fresh roll for take out. Bill was $34 so I gave him $40 and told him to keep the change. Was told to wait for 10-15 minutes for the order. Left and came back 30 minutes later. It wasn’t ready and I was told to wait another 5 minutes. Ok, no big deal. Grabbed it and took it to my hotel across the street. Open the vermicelli up and there are two tiny pieces of chicken, undercooked noodles and rotting mint leaves. And it was cold. The sauce for the dish was extremely sugary. The spring rolls were soft and essentially sucked. The side of rice was very overcooked. The fresh roll wasn’t horrible but again, the peanut sauce for it gave me instant diabetes. What is going on?? It’s not hard to make this basic selection of Vietnamese dishes. I guess they just don’t care. Do yourself a favour and find another Vietnamese joint to go to.
