What guests say about Café La Maison Smith
Café La Maison Smith stands out as a warm and welcoming cafe, with service often described as kind, fast, and professional. Customers especially like the coffee, croissants, pastries, and indulgent drinks, with several mentions of very good value for money. However, the place is small and can get busy, which can lead to waits and a bit less room to linger. A few reviews find the coffee or croissants only average, but overall the feedback is very positive.

Stopped by this Café in downtown Quebec after hearing a lot of recommendations, so expectations were fairly high. The café itself has a nice atmosphere and good location, but honestly the food and coffee experience felt pretty average to me. Tried the croissants and they were okay, but nothing particularly memorable or different from what you can find at many other cafés. Same with the coffee decent enough, but it didn’t really stand out in flavor or quality considering the hype around the place. Not a bad experience overall, just not something that personally lived up to the expectations.
Cozy and artsy atmosphere, great coffee and pastries, and also proudly Canadian! I recommend trying it out and supporting this lovely business over other foreign owned ones :) thanks Café La Maison Smith, I'll be visiting again.
Our favorite spot for a breakfast pastry and coffee while taking in Old Quebec. The selection os pastries is outstanding. The servers do a masterful job in preparing espresso, lattes and other beverages. The café is small and cozy. Very welcoming.
Another amazing place in Quebec City. Coffee and Caprese Sandwich was amazing. Coffee does not come overly hot which I actually like very much.
Perfect place for croissants and coffee in the morning, friendly staff, good coffee in the middle of Quebec City, plus they are open early, which I, as a an early tourist appreciate very much.
Cloudy cool spring day in Québec we stopped in for a hot coffee and a treat. Flat white and a chocolate covered pastry that was absolutely delicious. Thank you.
Beautiful little cafe. We stopped here a couple of times while in Quebec. It was a pleasant experience. The staff was great. Friendly and professional. They were also very welcoming and helpful. Nice atmosphere. The place was also very clean. I loved the coffees and lattes. They also had delicious treats. The prices felt decent, especially considering that the products had great presentation. Really good quality. Highly recommended.
It was a freezing cold morning when i went here. i simply got a coffee. Coffee was good, service was quick and friendly. you can sit by the window and watch the world go by, there is a pasty and sandwich counter, however i only got coffee.
Great café to visit during our trip to Quebec. We had an americano and a cappuccino, along with a big croissant and a pastel de nata—everything was delicious. The atmosphere was very chill and relaxing. Definitely recommended!
Croissant was good
Tasty food and coffee - it's a must!
Great pistachio donut! And hot chocolat:) 80’s music is the Best!
Best croissant ever
Kind staff and the food is amazing must try. Easily one of the best cafes ive been too for good prices you can get a great pastry or sandwhich.
Delicious croissants and drinks! We stopped here every morning on our trip to Quebec. Prices seemed good too.
Coffee was just OK. Better than some but nothing to write home about. We had double cappuccinos.
Absolutely loved this café! Located right in the heart of Old Quebec City, it’s the perfect spot to relax. Our server was incredible - she handled everything herself and did a fantastic job. The service and products exceeded our expectations. Considering the premium location, the prices are very reasonable. If you enjoy large drinks, you’ll find them here - I ordered an XL latte and was simply thrilled. Also, they have amazing waffles worth trying. The atmosphere inside is very cozy and welcoming. Highly recommend!
Coffee was fine and well prepared and the croissants tasted day old. But we were more upset by the guy behind the cash. When in Quebec, we think that it is important to speak in French, and so we did. Despite understanding everything we said, the guy behind the cash refused to speak back to us in French, despite us responding only in French. He couldn’t have been less disinterested in his job or more passive aggressive in disdain for us non-Francophones. We don’t need to spend $25 for two croissants and two coffees just to have someone be so obvious in his disrespect for non-Francophones. We won’t be back.
We tried a hot chocolate, coffee, ham and cheese croissant and waffles. Everything was good.
Great spot for an espresso, pastries are beautiful and the staff is friendly, kind and helpful. Warm atmosphere especially during the sub zero temperatures outside. Will definitely recommend.
❤️ it food was good downtown old quebec .....very christmas ....enjoyed it
This is an amazing breakfast and pastry place! The croissants and quiche were excellent! I highly recommend it
One of the best cafés I have ever been to. The space was clean, staff were friendly and patient, coffee was delicious, but the pastries and cake were out of the world. Absolutely recommend.
