We were really excited to try this place, based on the reviews. Unfortunately, it was pretty disappointing: super bland mussel broth; too much vinegar in both the onion soup and tartare; soggy fries. We ate less than half of the mussels and asked the server why it was so tasteless, he said it was Lobster broth and took it away with no follow through.

Bonjour, nous sommes vraiment désolés que notre cuisine et notre service n'ont pas réussi a vous satisfaire, ce qui est d'autant plus décevant que vous étiez venus vis à vis de clients tres satisfaits. Parfois il peut arriver qu'un plat soit moins bien exécuté en cuisine et nous aurions du avec vos commentaires essayer de corriger l'erreur. Ceci nous encourage a mieux former nos équipes et à nous améliorer chaque jour. A bientot nous l'espérons

The service & hospitality of the staff was fantastic. We were caught up in traffic post F1 and they held our table for over an hour on a busy Friday night. Once we arrived the service was top notch and the food delicious. We would highly recommend. We’ll be back :)

Visited Buvette Nicole in mid-May 2026. This little French eatery is located in Old Montreal and was one of our nicest meals during our stay. We started out with the French Onion Soup ($19) which was soup-er cheesy. We also had the Grilled Octopus ($29) which was one tentacle paired with a mango salsa. The octopus was tender and the mango salsa went well with the dish. For our mains, we had the Bavette Steak with frites ($39) and the Pork Rib ($42) with grilled peaches and kale. We really loved the tender grilled peaches and the pork was a generous serving. The bavette was flavourful and paired with a compound butter. While the grain was loose, it had a nice mouthfeel and the fries were addictive. Glad we picked this place to visit.

I was visiting from Edmonton in Jan. And had a really nice experience. The chef talked with us. Our server was really friendly. I really liked the French onion soup. It was late and we didn’t notice they were trying to close. But they were so pleasant about it. I still dream about the escargot abd French onion soup.

The food is top notch and the service impeccable. I came to Montreal for some French food and this place delivers. The escargot and onion soup is a must!! Moules Frites was out of this world. Don't forget to try the ice cider!! Olivier was an amazing bartender and extremely knowledgeable!!!

Had an outstanding experience thanks to Olivier behind the bar. His drinks were beautifully made - creative, well-balanced, and clearly the work of someone who takes real pride in his craft. Every cocktail felt thoughtful and unique, not just pulled from a standard menu. On top of that, his service was warm, attentive, and made the whole evening better. If you’re stopping in, ask for Olivier - you won’t be disappointed.

Deconstructed cheesecake was the star of the night. It was very delicious! Beef tartare and octopus were good also. We had bavette as main, it was pleasant. The waiter is amazing and took care of us perfectly!

The food was good, but not worth the price. I had the beef tartare and pasta. I believe it was a vegetarian pesto pasta with nuts and ricotta. It was good but definitely not worth the 30 something dollars I paid.

Stopped here along our walk in Old Montreal for a quick bite and some drinks. The service was excellent and Jordan made sure to accommodate us with all our needs. Food is excellent! Will be returning next time we are back in MTL.

On a recommendation from both the hotel concierge and a a sweet server from another pub, we chose Buvette Nicole. Made a reservation, since it was a busy weekend. Greeted by Jordan, literally a ROCK star of the house. His recitings of the dishes were all poetry worthy! Started with Wine by the glass, fairly priced and a nice pour. Table was a bit tight but the whole place was abuzz, good music and nice vibe - for sure. The menu is delicious sounding just to read. We started with the mussels appetizer. NDUJA ET MOULES - Plump mussels on toast with fried capers and the Nduja paste. Life changing flavors. We were amazed at how all the ingredients melded and were just perfect. Cannot say enough about this dish. Main course was the Bavette steak. Also super flavorful and a wonderful salad with it. The dessert was a chef's special. A cheesecake style mousse with amazing cookie crusts mixed into raspberry sauce. Heavenly. Truly world class ending to a wonderful meal. We went back the next night just to say hi and how much we enjoyed it, since it was that good. One of the best experiences ever - here.

We absolutely loved our experience at BN!! Appetizers, dinner and wine were all superbly presented. We particularly enjoyed our dinners, perfect (on the larger side) proportions, delicious flavors and served nice and hot! Definitely recommend this place!!
