My wife and I loved our visit. If you’re looking for an affordable, easy spot for any meal, L’antiquaire is your place. The beef poutine was excellent and you MUST get the pouding chômer.

Excellent spot. The plate of the day was very good and lots of food. Its gets busy so there can be a line. Prices are very reasonable.

Decent breakfast option in Quebec City though worth noting that there are other nearby places for a better tasting breakfast. Ordered the eggs Benedict and French toast and had higher expectations for both items.

I was disappointed with this restaurant. Omelet was undercooked and had runny egg so didn't eat it. Cheese in omelet was sliced pasteurized American cheese (yuck). Potatoes were good. Small piece of wilted lettuce was on plate. Not sure if this was a Canadian style or just trying to cook for American tourists.

We were extremely disappointed with our experience at this restaurant on Sunday, October 11, 2026, the day before Thanksgiving in Canada. Considering the good reviews and the fact that it is a local restaurant, we expected much better service. When we first arrived, we were told to wait outside. While we were waiting, two other couples were allowed to enter before us, apparently because no one was keeping track of who was next. When we went inside to let them know it was our turn, a young staff member told us it was a mistake and that we needed to wait longer. Not only was this frustrating, but no one even apologized for the inconvenience. Once we were finally seated, it took a long time for someone to take our order. We were asked whether we wanted all our food served at once, and we initially said no. However, since we had travelled a long way from Toronto, we asked for the soup to be served first. The soup arrived, but then we waited approximately an hour and a half for the rest of our order. The waiter noticed that we were becoming impatient and told us to wait a few more minutes, then explained that ordering the food separately was the reason for the delay. This explanation made little sense to us, especially since we had not even ordered drinks and the restaurant did not appear to be particularly busy. By the time the rest of our food arrived, we had completely lost our appetite. What should have been an enjoyable meal turned into an exhausting and frustrating experience. We cannot say whether the delays were intentional, but the way we were treated left us feeling disregarded and unwelcome. Good food and good reviews mean very little when the service is this poor. We left deeply dissatisfied and would not want other customers to have the same experience.

Overall, we had a good experience at Le Buffet de l'Antiquaire, although I have to say I found the place a little overhyped. I ordered the Ragoût de Boulettes et Pattes, while my wife had the Spécial Antiquaire. I really enjoyed my dish. The meatballs were delicious, the sauce was full of flavour, and the mashed potatoes were really good too. Everything worked very well together. The food was definitely tasty and comforting, although I wouldn't say it was anything extraordinary. The waiters were very friendly and spoke both French and English, which made communication easy. My main reservation is really about the hype surrounding the restaurant. There was a long queue of people waiting, and if you're a group of four, you can expect to wait around 45 minutes for a table. That's not the restaurant's fault, of course, but it does raise expectations quite a bit. In a less famous restaurant, I'd probably give this experience five stars. But considering the reputation and the long wait, I was expecting something a little more special. Overall, good traditional Québécois food and friendly service, but I'm not sure it's worth such a long wait. A solid four stars for me.

I visited Quebec city for 5 days, I ate here everyday at least once. Good breakfast, very good dinner. The staff are kind and polite. The first time I went there verre safety vests there, so I knew the breakfast was going to be good. When I return to Quebec city I'm going to stay near this gem.

A great place to have a daily balanced meal. The omelet fried patates are 👍great with friendly server. Highly recommended. Breakfast menu is available during dinner time. Walked up and down to arrive the place but definitely worth it.

I hate to give a negative review, but... I was craving a hearty breakfast. Given the long lines outside the restaurant, I figured this place must be really good. I waited in line for about 10 minutes, so not too bad. The place was pretty packed, and I ended up sitting at the counter. I didn't have to wait long to place my order or for my drinks. We were off to a good start! Until I saw how the cooks were handling the food. Literally. For instance, one of the cooks had just finished preparing a plate when I guess they noticed one of the eggs wasn't cooked quite right. So, they picked it up using their fingers and threw it back on the grill. Another cook picked up and plated the eggs Benedict with their bare hands. The same cook also grabbed a handful of something out of the cooler and tossed it on grill. While I saw them wipe their hands on their aprons or on (an already dirty) towel, I never once saw them wash their hands. In fact, I didn't even see a sink. It might have been somewhere behind the counter, but I didn't see it. One could argue that there’s no real difference between bare hands and potentially dirty gloves, but I think most people would prefer to take their chances with the latter. I was pretty hungry. So, the poor food handling didn't stop me from eating my (somewhat overpriced) breakfast. (Which was just “meh.”) But I wouldn't risk ordering much of anything else. The only real positive was the staff who served me. They were quite friendly and pleasant, which I appreciated. Needless to say, I will not be returning. 🫤

Used to come here for the big portions at a fair price. Those days are over. The eggs Benedict was a small portion and just wasn't good. Felt overcharged for everything on the plate except the bread and the egg. Asked to swap the potatoes for a salad and got four tiny sliced tomatoes. $25 for two bites, I felt ripped off. Service was good, no complaints there. But the food has gotten worse and the value is gone. I won't be back.

A pretty awful experience I'm afraid. The fish & chips were a joke. Spongy foul batter with a slither of frozen fish inside. My wife (who asked for a glass of water three times & never received it!) had the meat ball concoction. Meat balls dry & tasteless. On the up side, the drinks were very good. Sorry, but this might be a good breakfast spot, but for dinner it is one to avoid we think.......$125.00 for tourist trap rubbish.

The food here was terrible. Only one person e joyed their food out of a 5 . I’m not quite sure how they received 5 star ratings. We sent back my mother’s food which was the meat pie. It was old… and by old I mean extremely dry and like it was made a day before and reheated repeatedly to the point that it was like eating dust. It looked so dry as they still served it. The fries for our poutines were old and refried to the point of being hard. They still had the nerve to charge for my mothers meal. Which is pretty ridiculous.
