Absolutely THE BEST fish & chips in Montreal, my go to is the salmon, but everything is just amazing!
What guests say about Brit & Chips
Brit & Chips is highly appreciated for its fish and chips, often described as fresh, crispy, and among the best in Montreal. The service is generally fast, friendly, and attentive, with a rather small atmosphere that can sometimes be busy. A few reviews mention that some portions, the greasiness, or the consistency can vary, and that the space is a bit cramped.

Fish and chip is one of my personnal favorite meal, and Brit & Chips definitly make the best in town! You have to try the maple syrup haddock, it doesn't taste sweet, but it has a very rich flavor! I also recommend the popcorn tandoori shrimps as a starter, absolutly delicious ! Over the summer they have a very cute terrace a few steps away from the heart of the Old Port. As for dessert, their deep fried oreos and apple doughnut are to die for ! Came back after over a year (still amazing food and service), but the haddock has been replaced by sole and still as delicious, but a but different, will take it again!
The food is great and service is lightning fast
enjoyed it. Seating arrangements can be better but the food and service was good
A very decent restaurant having very few options of fish and chips, salads, burgers, desserts and drinks. The Cod fish and chips was really really good, I loved it. Calamari and the chilli sause was just okay. Very friendly staff and atmosphere.
Will not be ordering again. Ordered 2pc Sole with a gluten-friendly batter (not sure if they have a dedicated fryer for the GF items). The GF batter is crispy but quite greasy, and the batter to fish ratio seems lopsided (so much batter - chunks with zero fish inside). The tartar sauce was incredibly salty. Tastes like the frying oil needs to be changed. Fries were bland. Edible but woefully mediocre, especially for $25 a meal. Might be better as a dine-in experience?
I found this restaurant on Google before leaving Toronto as I wanted to treat my friend to a good English dinner (she was born in London). Not a disappointment 😀. The food was amazing, best fish and chips I've ever had. Our servers were awesome, very attentive. I even bought a t-shirt to take home 🩷
We sat on the patio, and ordered the Salmon Fish and Chips. Food was tasty and service was friendly. Overall positive experience.
Crispy fresh fish with a very flavored batter amazing tartar sauce and fries to die for
Such a great Fish & Chips spot! The food quality is truly excellent and everything tastes fresh. I absolutely love their shrimp poutine — it’s my favourite and I keep coming back for it. Highly recommend this place!
Unfortunately seems the quality degraded. The fries was over fried/ or they were using low quality or overused oil. So basically not a special place/taste at all.
Food is fresh and tasty. Nice cozy place, seating is quite cramped, little uncomfortable.
Tried the classic fish and chips maple syrup batter. It was super delicious. Highly recommend it. One of my personal fav spot in Montreal.
Great food and top tier service:)
Good food and good service, well priced menu
One of my personal favs in montreal
Great fish and chips place! The food is incredibly savory and the fish is crispy and not overly oily. The only challenge is seating if the weather is too cold. The inside is a bit cramped and small. The staff is kind although I know for the lunch rush they can be quite busy and overwhelmed. Otherwise excellent place for fish and chips!
Small establishment with big flavors! Had the cod fish & chips.... excellent! Generous portions and friendly staff!
Yousef was an amazing server and so kind. And the fish and chips was very good !!
Cozy little place with good service and delicious fish and chips. I got the maple syrup battered sole and it was absolutely delicious. I really loved the tartar sauce that came with it as well. The employees were kind and full of smiles. I'll definitely be back to try more :)
Best fish and chips in Montreal!
Staff were great. Mushy peas were truly excellent. Unfortunately the chips were American style fries rather than proper British style chips and the fish was very greasy which is common when the oil is not hot enough.
Another Montreal spot that cured my GF food grief for the weekend. We ordered one GF fish and chips and one regular. I’ve tried GF fish and chips in Dublin and Malta (Malta being the best yet) and this spot was up there both of the others. Crispy batter, flavorful and crunchy. Service was great, we were there when a big bus arrived but they got our food out very quick given the busy pace.
Genuinely one of the best fish and chips I’ve had ever!! I got the cod with poutine and it was so delicious!!
Staff were very friendly and helpful for our choices.
