Fantastic service and good food

Stopped in for a cocktail before turning in. The Jardin Provencal was expertly made by a friendly young man who talked to us about local products. A great end to the day!
Our waitress Elodie was very friendly. She was alone serving a full section and remained friendly and checked in on us when she could. The food arrived cold and the “poached” egg was completely solid and hard boiled so that was disappointing. The food was fine overall but probably would’ve been better if it was warm. It was comical to watch the rest of the staff maneuver around our drinks when they came up at the bar; we watched 3 servers in a row unload entire trays of dishes over top of our drinks and no one ran them :(
I liked the food, and the service was great. It was romantic, however it got a bit loud. And the boeuf bourguignon had the most amazing tender meat, however when it comes to the flavour of the stew, I do think the one I make at home is better. Which suprised me. But overall, the food was great
One of the BEST experiences I’ve had in a hotel restaurant. I’ve travelled a lot and this restaurant was a very pleasant surprise! Absolutely delicious and the service was top notch. You have to get the burger and the crème brûlée was perfect. Not to mention the minestrone soup and delicious bread with tomato based spread. I don’t have to eat for a week! Bravo! See you tomorrow!
My wife and I ate here to celebrate her upcoming birthday. Let me say, what a delight from start to finish. We arrived when it was very busy and only the only available seats were at the bar. No problem for us! I ordered the Steak Frites with tempered expectations and was blown away by the quality of my meal. Not only was my steak cooked a perfect medium rare but I haven't had a steak so sumptuous in quite some time. After dinner we stuck around and had a few cocktails which were prepared in front of us and ultimately went down perhaps a little too easily! Next time we are in Montreal we will be back!
Shout out to Paula for her great service this morning!
Paula was great, food was very good.
Paula was so welcoming and so accommodating! Lovely place for brunch in the old Montreal. Would recommend!
Paula was a rockstar of a server and Brasserie 701 was so kind to accommodate our large group of 7 at the door by assembling the private room. So hospitable!
Adele was our waitress and she was phenomenal
Took a traditional eggs, bacon & toast. Amazing food. A bit pricey but that's expected for a restaurant like this in that area. Right in front of the courtroom, if you don't like lawyers don't go there lol. Butter to die for! The REAL butter the FRENCH WAY. Délicieux! Forgot to take a picture doe!
We had an amazing dinner 🍽️ at Brasserie 701, right in front of Basilica Notre-Dame De Montréal. This is our second visit to this restaurant located inside the hotel. We always get thrilled with the ambience inside. Me and my wife ordered Beef 🥩 Bourguignon for the main course and a cocktail 🍸 The beef was well cooked and it was yummy. Nice aroma of the spices. We both enjoyed it. We highly recommend to make reservations in advance as it is always packed. In addition, I would also recommend to dress casually/professionally, rather than wearing shorts or junky-cut dresses (I saw some people wearing that, which I found a bit unethical). I always wear three piece suit for a candle 🕯️ light dinner 🍲 with my wife. Will visit again in the future. Merci beaucoup.
I visited with a group of 12 women during a bachelorette weekend and had organized everything in advance with Charlotte, who was polite and responsive. Based on that, I had high expectations for the evening. We had arranged a prix fixe menu, provided a credit card in advance, and confirmed that the bill would be on one cheque. However, upon arrival for our 6:30 reservation, our group was split into two separate tables with a column between us, which made the experience feel disconnected and far less enjoyable as a group. While our waitress was pleasant, service was extremely slow and inconsistent. After being seated, it took about 20 minutes for our table to have our drink orders taken, while the other half of our group had already received drinks and placed orders within 5 minutes. By 7:30, we had only received bread and butter, and it was nearly 8:00 before appetizers arrived. I had intentionally booked an early reservation to allow enough time to make a 9:00 pm show, so initially I wasn’t too concerned. However, the pace never improved. Each course was delayed, and our table was largely overlooked throughout the evening. At one point, my main course was delivered without cutlery, and I had to wave down our server for assistance. I also had to actively track her down to let her know we needed to leave by 8:50. At that point, she went to the other table and asked if they wanted separate bills, which was confusing given the billing arrangement had been clearly confirmed in advance. Overall, the experience was disappointing, especially considering how promising the planning process had been. It’s unfortunately not a place I would recommend for group events. The “congratulations” postcard left on the table felt impersonal and a bit like an afterthought rather than a meaningful gesture. As for the food, it was underwhelming. Dishes arrived lukewarm and noticeably underseasoned. While there was an abundance of bread and butter, it felt more like a way to compensate for the slow service than a highlight of the meal.
We had a delightful experience. The food was fabulous. John provided excellent service and John’s bright convivial chatter just added that touch of magic to our evening.
Great place with a nice and varied menu. On the fancier side so prepare your budget accordingly. The charcuterie board plate to share could've easily been for 4 ppl. We were stuffed.
I loved the brunch, however lunch didn't live up to the same. The bartender Shady was very good and the atmosphere is excellent!
Had the sea bream - fantastic! Thank you Alexi!
Nice vibe if you want to do a girls brunch there but to be honest the pricd $$$ for what you get is really a rip off. The food flavor and quality of the meal isnt even worth it. It looks "esthetically" pleasing for pictures, but doesnt taste delicious. I personality wouldnt go back.
Had a good time here. I was there with a group of 5-7 people and it wasn’t too noisy. The staff was professional and things were clean and looked good.
Excellent restaurant. Excellent service from Wandrille and Victor. I would go back for sure.
kind of disappointed … the soup was delicious but my main dish was cold and the beef no 😊 so good.
The reception was welcoming and our waiter was excellent and super friendly, really fun to talk to, and helpful with ordering, he was the highlight of the night. The wine was also very good. Dinner overall was good. The steak was enjoyable, though not outstanding. The biggest disappointment was the salads ordered. Despite some effort in presentation, the ingredients /mix felt basic and lacked flavor. They were easily the weakest part of the meal, also some item was sold out, having special menu and not having enough. You know One staff member who refilled our water and cleared plates seemed visibly irritated and handled dishes quite roughly. It didn’t ruin the evening, but the display was noticeable. Overall, the service from our waiter was great, dinner and wine were good, but the salads need improvement. I expected a bit more from the experience, though I still appreciate the effort
I came to Montreal for the history, the architecture, the culture, and the short track speed skating world championships… but I stayed for the dirty martinis at Brasserie 701. Enter Shady - bartender, mixology wizard, and the only man I’ve ever seen shake a cocktail with the quiet confidence of Patrick Mahomes in the fourth quarter. The resemblance is uncanny. If Mahomes ever needs an offseason job, I’m convinced he’s already been moonlighting behind this bar. As a Toronto girl, I take my martinis very seriously. Shady served me two of the most delicious dirty martinis I’ve ever had with some potent local gin. Perfectly chilled, perfectly salty, and strong enough to make me briefly consider moving to Montreal permanently. Service: 10/10 Martinis: 12/10 Mahomes doppelganger energy: off the charts. If you find yourself at Brasserie 701, do yourself a favour: ask Shady for a dirty martini. Just be warned - you’ll probably end up ordering a second one. I certainly did. 🍸
Florence was very attentive and professional. Wonderful food and service!
