Went for some cocktails on my birthday, the staff and cocktails were perfect! We had so much fun and enjoyed them crafting our cocktails right infront of us. Will definitely go again and recommend to friends visiting Montreal.

It was truly an amazing experience. We were just walking by, not knowing what to expect, and we ended up walking up a bookshelf-themed spiral staircase, then through curtains, into this immersive speakeasy. Despite not having a reservation, they were able to take us in. Live music was playing (I will say, it was a little loud), but the waiter still was extremely attentive and actually lowered himself so he could be able to talk to us and hear us. I was unsure of what to have, but he was very patient and said something along the lines of he will help me find my happiness or something like that. It felt like he really cared for me to have something I would like. The others in my party said they had the best old fashions they had ever had, and the food was amazing! Instead of fries, they were actual potatoes. They catered to my allergy - even excluding that ingredient from the spinach salad for me, it was still amazing - and that was just the sides! I do wish they had more chicken/vegetarian items but that seemed more across the board for all of montreal, but i still enjoyed what i had. We would 100% go back next time we are there!

Great time at happy hours (5-7pm) on Sunday. Much quieter than usual, staff is also more available, and the 1$ oyster deal is soooooo worth it. I'll def come back at that time!

Everything was perfect. From the helpful, attentive, patient staff, to the incredible, speakeasy-like atmosphere, to the live jazz band, to one of the best old-fashions I've had in my life. The burger was cooked to perfection, the spinach salad was seasoned and garnished BEAUTIFULLY, the fries were more like seasoned potato wedges. Easy to miss on the street, but an absolute home-run of an establishment that is not to be missed on a trip to the city. Upscale, expensive, but what you get is easily worth the price. Love that it's hard to find because it feels like secret knowledge for such an immaculate place. Even the walk up the stairs was neat.

One of the most amazing evenings I had while in Montreal during La Classique Du Quebec 2026. The atmosphere and professionalism of the staff on the evening of Feb 15th 2026 was unmatched as a whole. We came for drinks and oysters before an event and decided to come back shortly after in the same evening due to the wonderful service from the awe inspiring Rita. Truly a wonderful experience. Looking forward to returning in July!

I visited Bootlegger tonight and overall had a great time with the food, drinks, and especially the service. The Bootlegger burger was absolutely amazing—juicy, flavorful, and something I’d definitely order again. The pulled pork burger stood out as well, tender and satisfying. The side salad with sun-dried tomatoes was a refreshing touch and paired nicely with the mains. On the other side, the wagyu burger was a bit disappointing; it came out quite dry and there was no option to have it cooked more rare since that’s left to the chef. Also, some condiments would’ve made it better and flavourful. For sides, the potato wedges were tasty but a little plain. They really could’ve used more sauce what came with them was barely a spoonful, not enough to go around. On the drinks side, I really enjoyed the Donkey King. The banana-vanilla flavor profile worked for me, though I can see why some people (like my friends) would find it unusual for a cocktail. The Agent Orange was good—nothing particularly special, but solid. The service was fantastic. Our servers were professional, attentive, and funny, which made the whole experience more enjoyable. The only other drawback was the table setup. The tables themselves are really small, and the plates are fairly large, so we ended up shifting things around constantly to make everything fit. If we had been a group of four instead of three, I don’t think it would’ve worked at all—I’d recommend smaller plates to help with space. All in all, Bootlegger has some good burgers, creative cocktails, and top-notch service that make it worth a visit, but a few tweaks (especially to the wagyu burger, sauce portions, and tableware) would really take the experience up a notch.

Really good oysters and the cocktail selection is impressive. A bit pricey and the portions are a bit small but the seafood tastes so fresh and the dishes are really tasty. Wouldn’t recommend for a date because it’s kind of noisy. Service was great and bathrooms were really clean.
