We had the loveliest Potato Mushroom soup and Brocolli soup. Our server was especially attentive.

This is a hidden gem in Renfrew. They sell delicious food at a reasonable price. They also have a wide variety of specialty cooking spices, linens and more. Also, difficult to find European delicacies can be found here.
I visited the shop today and was really impressed by the selection in the back of the store—I ended up making several purchases and received excellent, friendly service there. Unfortunately, my experience changed when I went to the front to order a drink and something to eat. As a first-time visitor, I wasn’t aware that the kitchen closes an hour before the shop itself. There was signage nearby indicating the kitchen was open, so this wasn’t clear. When I ordered a sandwich around 2:00 p.m., the staff member taking orders (an older woman, I believe Carol) responded by saying I had “30 seconds to order” and that I should have known they were closed in a rude tone. The interaction felt very disrespectful. I also purchased a canned lemonade with my sandwich and later asked for a cup. The same staff member interrupted her colleague to state that I could not have a cup unless I paid for it. The younger employee who ultimately helped me was very kind and professional. Overall, this experience was disappointing and left me hesitant to return, which is unfortunate because the shop itself is a real gem and has so much going for it.
The sandwich and soup was tasty, fresh and delicious. I would strongly recommend a must stop at the Bonnechere Bakery on your way to Algonquin park.
