Very disappointing experience. The worst part was the service. Our waitress was extremely rude and unfriendly throughout our visit, and her attitude made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. I ordered the poutine and wings, and the portions were quite small for the price. The food was way too expensive for what we received. Overall, the rude service, especially the waitress’s attitude, completely ruined the experience. Definitely not worth the price, and I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Terrible experience. Walked into what felt more like a smelly tavern than a bistro. The waitresses completely ignored us. No greeting, no eye contact. They literally tossed the menus onto our table and never came back to ask what we wanted. We sat there for ten minutes waiting to be acknowledged before giving up and leaving. Avoid.

Dearest gentle reader, It has come to this author’s attention that whispers have begun circulating through the social register regarding a certain local establishment—a public house that promises much beneath its heavy timbered rafters. Step inside, and one is immediately transported to a world of dark, brooding romance. The interior mirrors a fortified medieval castle, draped in shadows and radiating an exquisitely moody, atmospheric charm that entirely captivates the senses. To sit within its walls is to feel the delicious weight of a secret society. Furthermore, the attendants of the house acquit themselves with the utmost grace, providing service so attentive and warm that even the most exacting patron of the ton would find themselves thoroughly charmed. Alas, no season passes without its scandals. When the matter of sustenance was brought before the table, the reality fell distressingly short of the finely manicured portraits displayed in the gazettes. The culinary offerings left much to be desired, failing entirely to match their advertised splendor and crying out for considerable refinement. In sum, this hidden castle offers a splendid theatre for an evening of atmospheric indulgence and fine hospitality, provided one’s appetite is kept strictly secondary to the ambiance.

Just happened to do a search for the nearest place that served decent food and drinks with a romantic ambiance and ended up here...in one of the more photographed places in Quebec City. We had a great time!

Went here three times in a short spell in Quebec City. A perfectly good spot for people watching and the staff is attentive, but they need to be taken to task for two severe failings. The food, whether euro hot dogs or lobster rolls or frites, is salted well past the point of edibility. This is particularly annoying when the lobster roll is a pricey menu item and - the humble lobster being a denizen of the briny Atlantic - it should never be salted to death! Second, in each of our three times there we were told there would be live music that night at 6:00PM - which is why we went there - and each time it magically failed to appear. I don't know if they have musicians that keep ghosting them or if they decide there's not enough business to merit a musician and send him or her away at the last minute, but it's obvious they don't tell customers the truth. Engagingly, they have a spring that bubbles out of the cliff in the back room and it burbles away down a little private stream they have built for it.

French fries were 3/4 of an inch and not just some the whole order for two separate dishes. Lobster roll was ok the fish and chips for pre-made and then thrown in some sort of cookery thing, not good. Should have known by the fact that it was the only restaurant around that had mostly free tables.

Always our first stop when passing through Quebec City. A cozy little bistro in a historic building. Grab a seat at the bar, order the cheese plate and have a few drinks with the locals.

Got mussels and fries. Mussels were plump, clean, delicious. Broth was a little salty, though. So so so good. And the people watching while they are taking tik tok and Instagram shots was hilarious.

Service was slow and not very good. Ordered wings with sauce on side, surf and turf, tuna tataki, and fish and chips. Tuna and fish and chips came out as ordered and were ok. Wings came out sauced and my daughter wouldn't eat them, they were ok, at best. Surf and turf came out with only "turf", no "surf". Came back out with shredded, cold lobster meat (that clearly had claw meat in it) heaped on it. Steak was ordered med-rare and came out nearly raw. It was also covered in a low quality poutine gravy, which was not what was advertised. The steak was tough as leather. The shredded lobster they added when it came out with none was clearly their meat for lobster rolls and not the advertised lobster tail. This place was terrible, the worst meal I've had anywhere in a LONG time.

My first stop on my arrival from USA . Beer was cold and tasty on draft . Cheese plate was good quality . Great view and people watching from patio . And my bartender / waiter was friendly . Mercy!

Great location in Lower Town. Wonderful old building.  Friendly, great staff and delicious food.  We really enjoyed our seafood chowder and fondue.  Thanks for a great lunch!

We went here for dinner on our first night in Old Quebec. It has a wonderful pub atmosphere. However, both food and service were lacking. We were the only table yet we had to get the waiter, who was lounging at the bar, to get salt and pepper for the under-seasoned (and over-priced) seafood chowder. The poutine was "ok" but nothing special. We never got our water as requested and had to flag down the waiter a second time to get the bill. Ok to visit for a drink, but we won't eat there again.

Watched the cook text onnhis phone and touch my food with his bare hands without even washing. Did not see this man ever wash his hands.😬 plus none of the food was fesh. All frozen precooked.
