We took our son to Bistro la Gargouille for his 18th birthday dinner on recommendation from a friend. It did not disappoint. We were greeted by the manager as soon as we came in, and given a great table. The bartender was super friendly and attentive, as he was also our server. They had a band playing and they were not overly loud, and the music was great. I had the Montreal smoked meat sandwich and it was the best one I have had. They brought my son a key lime pie with a sparkler for his dessert and he said it was delicious.

We were very pleased with our first experience in this bistro! We had a show to see at the Casino and this was a beautiful place with a very pleasant atmosphere for dinner prior to the show! We had a nice large booth table for the 5 of us to sit at, VERY comfortably. The staff was super friendly and made us laugh. The food was delicious, everyone was very happy with their choices (lots of choices!) and their pitcher of sangria is probably the largest I have seen :-) There was a live "chansonnier" and he was very entertaining as well. We will definitely be back if we are back in the vicinity!

Took the fish and chip. Batter on fish not cooked inside. I had to scrape the uncook batter from the fish. Cost $31 without the tip. Quite expensive for an uncooked meal. Not a lot of servers. Our server was the bartender. Needless to say he was busy so did not come often to our table. They offered a free dessert that i was not hungry for, so took to go. If i would not have taken it. I would have had to pay full price anyway and not getting anything. I have been sick for two days. Not impressed at all paid full price to be in bed for at least two days. My dessert cannot be eaten at the moment and might be stale by the time I can actually eat it. Will definitely never go back.

Thanks for great food and silver service. Was very great atmosphere, with cozy placed table for 9 person, big respect for Zack. Only is very empty , I hope is only that is was late hours. All best you guys.

Incredible! First visit and was a random drive by choice and we are so pleased! Incredible food!!! Love love love the atmosphere and I had the best Amaretto Sour I have ever had! 100% would recommend

It had live music which made for a more fun atmosphere, the staff were super friendly and accommodating and the food was delicious definitely plan to go back soon!

Dainty small place. Music was too loud that even servers could not hear the orders that they had to bend down to get what we said. We could not carey out any conversations across the table. The server waa very polite, courteous, joking with us and provided an excellent service. Flank steak was dry, flavourless and leathery. Ribs were burned and dry, not juicy. Too mich sauce lathered on the full rack of ribs. Beuf Tatare was too tiny for meal size, but had good flavour to it with fennel and spices. The thin baguette slices accompanying the Tartare were overtoasted to charcoaI. I have had much larger portion of Appetizer size beuf tartare at a Michélín Star mentioned bistro in Québéc City that tasted like heaven, at a price 40% less just 8 months ago!! The cheesecake crème burlee was dry, the sugar caramel was overburned to bitter charcoal. Many items on the menu were not available, so we were restricted to choose from a small choices. The Crevettes fromage fondue with toast was bland, woth 6 tiny shrimp and melted cheese, and here too the toast was burned. Doesnt the cooks or chéf pay any attention to food quality?? Seriously?? And especially in Québéc? My cocktail was way too bitter, even after substituting for another gingembre sirop, as the original sirop was not available. Not recommended for a dining experience, may by for loud, noisy pub environment with lousy food, it may be good for some folks.

We loved this place! We went to visit our son who is at University in Ottawa and decided to venture out to this fun pub in Gatineau on a Saturday night. Lots of fun live music in French and English and lively ambience! Food and service was great… mostly appetizers. Super fun 🤩

Great cocktails and friendly service. Food has evolved since they first opened and now lots of good options. Often has live music with great musicians and a great sound setup. Great place to meet with friedns or for a date. It can get busy and fill up so a reservation is recommended for later in the week.

Lively, excellent dishes in an artistically chaotic setting that just works. You have to see it to understand. Live music, often solo-acoustic. Advance reservations help get the cool spots like chandelier booths and closer to live music and two bar areas. A few craft beers but not extensive, more about cocktails variety, and wine by the glass or bottle. Highly recommended!
