I’m filled with gratitude today. When I learned the cafe in Orleans was closing I was worried I wouldn’t be able to enjoy BBCR espresso anymore. I have been a loyal supporter of BBCR ever since I got a Breville Espresso machine 1.5 yrs ago and have enjoyed a cup everyday. Coffee shops are expensive and finding a Canadian roaster made it so I can enjoy my own craft drinks in my home rather than go to places or support businesses I'm morally against (cough cough Starbucks, McDonalds, Nespresso etc) and aren’t even fresh. I appreciate that when I called BBCR Kayla made me feel valued and understood as a customer who only purchases two small bags a month when I know they have large purchasers. Kayla squashed my fears of losing my coffee and made me feel less silly about caring so deeply about BBCR. Anyway, so happy to have secured more beans and to know BBCR is not going anywhere. Thanks to Kayla and the rest of the BBCR team. I’m proud to support an incredible Canadian business.

The fact that BBCR has become part of your daily ritual for the last year and a half is the kind of thing that still feels surreal to us. We’re just a bunch of coffee nerds trying to roast beans properly without setting off smoke alarms and accidentally starting philosophical debates about espresso pressure. 😄 We’re especially glad Kayla was able to reassure you. Hidden gem. Great coffee (bagged) and tasteful interior. Glad it was recommended to is as it's not in a place you would normally notice.

Been ordering from here for a while - the beans are GREAT and the price is reasonable. Additionally, the customer service is top notch and they will address any issues you have (but pretty likely you won't have any!). These guys stand behind their product and go over and beyond.

I had a very disappointing and confusing experience at this cafe today. While every other customer-both before and after our visit —was served hot drinks in proper mugs with handles, my party was the only one given hot coffee and lattes in thin, handle-less glasses (like water glasses). The staff even warned us to be careful because the drinks were hot, yet they specifically chose to serve them in glasses with no handles, which made it nearly impossible to hold. I closely observed other tables, and not a single customer after us received their drink in the same glass we were given. Since the shop clearly had enough mugs for everyone else, I cannot understand why we were singled out with such inconsistent service. Providing safe and standard glassware to all customers should be a basic standard. I urge the management to look into this inconsistent treatment. I also sincerely hope the staff member reflects on what biased thoughts led to this kind of service and takes steps to correct it.

The handle-less glass you were served in is a Duralex Picardie café glass, a product that has been widely used in cafés for decades specifically for hot beverages. These are tempered, heat-resistant glasses designed for exactly this purpose and are a standard in many coffee environments. That said, if a handled mug was your preference, our team would have been more than happy to accommodate you immediately had this been brought to our attention during your visit. We always encourage guests to let us know in the moment so we can correct anything right away and ensure a comfortable experience. We take consistency seriously and will review this internally, but we also believe that open communication during a visit is the best way to resolve concerns quickly and effectively. Best coffee in town, nicest staff, tastiest sandwiches, great atmosphere and amazing selection of gift ideas in store for coffee enthusiasts. Colombian bean is my favorite.
