we finally decided it was time to investigate for ourselves. Sometimes the magic isn’t in reinventing the wheel. Everything here feels simple at first glance, but the details matter, and you can taste it. There is, objectively speaking, nothing revolutionary about the combination of focaccia with ricotta and honey. And yet—holy crap. The bread was impossibly soft, the ricotta fresh, and the drizzle of honey tied it together so beautifully that biting into it felt like munching on a savory cloud. I had never had fried olives before, which now feels like a personal oversight that I intend to correct for the rest of my life, especially when served with a dangerously good blue cheese dip that made it nearly impossible to stop eating them. And of course, there was wine. Because… well, duh. Now, I’ll be honest: I’m no wine connoisseur. I can usually tell if a wine is dry and I can occasionally pick up a note or two, but beyond that, my professional assessment is generally “this tastes good.” Everything we tried paired beautifully with the snacks—which is really the only expertise required for a very good evening. The service was top-notch, the atmosphere effortlessly charming, and the entire experience left us wondering why it took us so long to finally make it here. But at least now we know why everyone’s been talking about it for years.

Very good food, in fact it was excellent, but very small portions.
The honey ricotta focaccia is to die for!!! The bucatini was also very good, they definitely don’t skimp out on the shrimp! The only thing is that it went over our spicy food tolerance hahah. Last but not least, the amaretto sour was delicious! Our servers were very welcoming and friendly, and the ambiance was just lovely. Great selection of songs, especially if you like 90s music :) The only things you should be mindful of: - Be prepared to wait for a good 20-30min - They might put you on a shared table — bit awkward if you’re going on a first date, but otherwise fine!
We came for lunch and the standout was the focaccia special. It had vegetables on top and I don’t even like vegetables but it was so good we ordered another. The cacio e Pepe was alright, nothing special. The restaurant is really clean and has a great interior!
Food was great it took the shrimp pasta, bus music was way too loud to speak comfortably. The service was questionable took 10-15 min to come to come take our order. Again same thing for the payement took 10-15 min before they noticed us and come with the receipt.
I ordered this bread while waiting for a table. It was so delicious, absolutely amazing! The vibe of restaurant is good too, highly recommended!
GET THE FOCACCIA!!! This place was yummy and man was that focaccia out of this world. Great atmosphere to grab some drinks and food or even go for dinner. Arancini was excellent as well.
Bar Bara is absolutely fantastic. The cacio e pepe is a true classic, perfectly creamy and flavorful every time, and the focaccia is always insane, soft, airy, and packed with flavor. Be aware that there are no reservations, so be prepared to wait, but it’s totally worth it. A must-visit spot
$130 later for lunch and STILL HUNGRY . The crudo was one scallop cut in 4 pieces . Very disappointing. Pasta portion very small .
Went in for lunch one time since everyone talks about this place and I'm in the area. Had the weakest muffuletta I've had in my entire life. I guess, I'm not the target audience since I don't really care for decor. But I can see how instagram sensitive people would like this. Then again, there's Elena right down the street.
Amazing service- I mean just for that you should go. Place is a neo-rustic.as chic as it gets. Don't miss your opportunity to visit
Love this place! Their food is delicious. The ambiance of their restaurant feels so warm, especially during cold winter months. One of my favourite spots in Montreal. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Amazing pasta! Very homemade, great flavours, amazing wine list and service! Also the focaccia is amazing and fun flavours!
The food was really good but the music was even better!
This place is the perfect restaurant. I love their food so much and every order I have made her has never disappointed me. The service is quick and wonderful and the drinks are always ab awesome accompaniment to the food. This place is great for any occasion at any time of the day and their vibes and atmosphere are perfect for conversations. Just know it’s a walk in restaurant only.
Service was perfect, and ambiance was awesome, we came 15 before they closed and they still took us with a BIG SMILE and great energy! thanks to i our waiter who was absolutely brilliant. We went for dinner on Sunday night 11/01/26
Where do I begin ..?! This place is amazing, the music, the food, the service, 10/10. It was such a pleasure to be served by Yan, he was super attentive and friendly the whole night. The ambiance of the restaurant, although big and full of customers, felt quaint and warm. The music set the tone and the food was incredible. We shared some appetizers and mains, the drinks were good too. Bathrooms are private and clean. I recommend this place if you’re looking for a nice night out with some friends or a date.
Wow! Perfect neighborhood spot with great food, personable staff and a legit wine selection. Stumbled in here on a slammed NYE and they got us in at the bar, highlight of our New Years!
Fantastic atmosphere, delicious food and amazing service. Highly recommend.
Food is decent— nothing amazing but good enough to return with friends where fun vibes is the focus. Ambiance is fun, on the younger side, with loud music. Service was good. We were near the windows so the food/coffee didn’t stay warm for long (we went in the winter). Overall good enough. I’d agree to go back, but it would be someone else’s idea. **Weird spot for the service station, considering the locale is not big. Don’t know why the owners spent extra $ to partition it with a glass panel. There’s nothing to see there and it didn’t help to muffle the continuous cacophony of the cutlery and plates. Weird design call. Impacted visitor experience.
