What guests say about Bar Pamplemousse

Bar Pamplemousse stands out as a much-loved spot for its cocktails, food, and relaxed atmosphere, with service often described as excellent and attentive. Several reviews also highlight a good selection of drinks, tasty dishes, and a pleasant setting for hanging out with friends or enjoying a date. However, a few customers find the portions small and the prices high, and one review reports a very negative experience related to a child access policy.

10/10 experience. So easy to make a reservation and staff were very accommodating when we had to roll in a little late due to our delayed flight. Everyone was so kind, atmosphere was very cute and cozy and the FOOD!!! I will be seeing the halloumi dish in my dreams. Next time we are in Montréal, we will be coming back! P.S. they only have one dessert. Don't ask about it, just get it!

Had a wonderful experience sitting at the bar. What a fun time and great drinks. Had the halloumi appetizer and some drinks on our way to supper and will be back on our next visit.

Bar Pamplemousse was a truly treasured part of our trip to Montreal. The meal, the drinks, and the ambiance were top tier, but the true highlight of this chapter in an our adventure was the service we received by Kaelie. They were outstanding as a server and provided a level of friendliness that I believe earns them the title of "honorary Maritimer" because it was like we were dining with an old friend. For those wondering if you should visit here, the answer is a resounding yes. For those wondering what to get, there are no wrong options on these beautifully curated menus. For those with the power to incentivize Kaelie to stick around and keep making Bar Pamplemousse a staple of future journeys to the magnificent city of Montreal, this is your time to shine.

I made a reservation for 3 (my husband, myself, and our 6-year-old) after driving in for the night for a show. On arrival we were turned away — this restaurant apparently doesn't serve anyone under 18. The manager tried to explain they are trying to create a "high-end experience" therefore they could not serve our child. There were plenty of tables open inside and on the patio (which look deceivingly welcoming towards children). When I asked about ordering takeout for our child the manager deterred us by saying “it would take too long” and we should go to a food court down the street. As a person who frequents restaurants (both high end and casual) with my children and without, I have never been treated in this way, turned away, or have ever come across a policy like this. We were told the policy was on the website and in the booking confirmation. it's actually not located on the homepage, and on OpenTable it's buried at the bottom of the page, easy to miss. If this restaurant wants to stick by their “policy”, put it clearly at the top of the booking process and the website homepage. This would avoid an awkward and frankly insulting conversation when people with children arrive. Or, remove this discriminating policy all together. Disappointing experience, and I won't be returning.

When visiting places with the word “bar” in the name, it’s usually a good idea to call ahead and make sure it’s okay to bring your 6 year old. We are an adult establishment, and yes, we discriminate against all persons under the age of 18.

Good enough but not great. Portion sizes other than the burger was more tapas style. Not sure I would go back for any of the dishes. So many other better options in a foodie town like Montreal.

I have come here about 3-4 times a year for the last couple years when I am in town for work. The cocktails. World class. Bites. World class. Service. World class. I will never stop coming here. Thank you so much. Every time I have come here I have left feeling like I received special treatment.
