We've heard about Montreal bagels but never had them, so on a trip to Jay Peak we looked up a nearby bagel shop. Glad we brought our passports. The Canadian border guard seemed confused we were just coming into the country for breakfast but knew exactly where we were heading, which we took as a good sign! This place did not disappoint, and (stop reading, New York) I think I prefer a Montreal bagel to a New York one. Visiting this shop, it was delightful to be so close to the US and feel so far away. The town is charming , and I'm glad we went out of our way to stop here. The staff worked so hard to accommodate us with their limited English as we worked with our limited French, and then we were saved from Google Translate by a staff person fluent in both languages. The smell of the wood smoke and honey water inside was just delightful, and apparently the wood fire is used to bake the bagels and the smoke makes their bacon. The bagel sandwiches were just the right amount of messy for how delicious they were, and my spouse and I are absolutely gutted we didn't think to get any to bring home!
Reviews / Ratings for Bagels Round Top
I was looking for a quick snack and went with a bagel with cream cheese and a hot chocolate. Everything was freshly prepared and delicious. They serve wood-fired bagels and also offer smoked meats. Definitely worth a stop.
Such a great experience at Bagels Round Top. The staff was incredibly welcoming, kind, and genuinely enthusiastic. He took the time to walk us through the menu and share details about the food, which really showed how passionate and caring this place is—and that care truly comes through in the food. My boyfriend and I ordered the brisket sandwich, which was delicious and surprisingly light for 8:30 in the morning. We also split a bagel with cream cheese and honey, and everything tasted amazingly fresh. We’re from Boston, but if we’re ever in town again, this will absolutely be a must-stop. We really enjoyed both the food and the warm atmosphere and the thoughtful service made it such an enjoyable meal!
What a great place to have a Bagelwich!!! I took the smoked meat version and it’s their homemade both the smoke meat and the bagels. Definitely coming back for another round of the same one or other bagel sandwiches on their menu.
Solid four star food. Food and atmosphere is amazing. Do not leave town without eating this. Their locks are amazing as well as just normal plain bagels that you can buy for home. Hot chocolate is very good but it is a little bitter. Everything is fresh and they only give you bagels made that day.
