Very tasty burgers and fries. Honestly, very very good. We really enjoyed them. The people working there were super nice and friendly. Altough there are a couple of "buts". The tables are very low and a bit uncomfortable to eat on, especially for a kid. We also didn't see any utensils around to help our kid eat the burger without being super messy (although we didn't ask for utensils either, so it is possible they have them somewhere)

Hello Javier! Thank you so much for the 5-star review! We really appreciate the feedback about dining with your kid. Our low tables are a deliberate design choice, but we know they can be tricky for families. We do have utensils available at the counter, and we will make sure our team is more proactive about offering them to families to help keep things mess-free! We hope to welcome you all back to Bāgā soon! Best, The Bāgā team

Amazing hamburger! We tried the lobster and beef smashed burger and it was great! It comes with a house sauce and a fruit based ketchup, both fun and tasty! Highly recommend this place if you are craving a good burger 🍔

I'll definitely be coming back. I loved the burger, and the cookies were delicious. My only wish would be a slighty larger portion of fries.

Bāgā was a standout highlight of my visit to Montreal. From the moment I walked in, the service was exceptional—attentive, welcoming, and genuinely focused on making the experience memorable without ever feeling overbearing. The craft beer selection is impressive, with a well-curated range that offers something for every palate. Whether you’re into hoppy IPAs or smoother, more balanced brews, there’s a thoughtful variety worth exploring. And the burger—easily one of the best I’ve had. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. It’s the kind of meal you think about long after you’ve left. I highly recommend Bāgā to anyone visiting Montreal. It has officially earned a “favorite” spot on my list, and I’ll absolutely be returning on my next trip.

Hi Yorgui, Thanks for the 5 stars! We’re stoked you enjoyed the vibe and the terrace it’s definitely our best spot to hang out right now. Love that you gave the chicken smash a try for your first time! We put the same level of technique into our chicken as we do our beef to get that perfect crispy edge, so we're glad it "smashed" it for you. See you back on the terrace soon! Bāgā's team ☀️

Edges of my burger can only be described as *lacy* it was that crispy. I love the seasoning on the fries as well as the sauce, it’s really complex and not just a run-of-the-mill burger sauce. They just finished their lovely new terrasse!

Hi Katelin! Thank you so much for the 5 stars! "Lacy" is the perfect word. That’s exactly the level of crispiness we aim for with our smash technique! We’re also thrilled you noticed the complexity of our sauce and the seasoning on the fries; we put a lot of work into making sure those flavors really stand out 🙏🏻🙏🏻 See you again soon! Bāgā's team

Fries were good and burger was decent but the patties were soo thin. The two patties from the double smash burger together were thinner than a single A&W patty. Not sure if this was a one off but our burgers did not look like the ones I’ve seen from others

Hi Tom, Thanks for sharing your feedback! Glad to hear you enjoyed the fries. Regarding the thickness of the patties, what you experienced is actually the core of the Smashburger. Unlike a chain like A&W that serves thick, industrial patties, we "smash" our local beef onto a ripping hot grill. Here’s the story behind it: The goal isn't volume, but rather creating a specific chemical reaction (the Maillard reaction) that forms an ultra-crispy, caramelized crust. (This is where all the flavor and juices of our local beef are concentrated!) It’s a completely different experience, more about texture and intense flavor, similar to what you’d find in the best conventional diner spots. We hope this gives you a new perspective for your next double smash! À tantôt, Bāgā's team

Super delicious burger for those who love smash 😋 also very nice vibe and friendly staff My fries were a bit undercooked (still firm in the middle) but it could’ve just been a bad batch (also ended up eating all of them lol so take it with a grain of salt). Speaking of salt.. very salty! But I love salt. I think the fries and the burger were perfectly seasoned As others have said, I think the tables are quite uncomfortable and inconvenient, especially for a messy food like a burger where you have to keep it on top of the plate

A perfect new option for you to relax "just right". This isn't just a place to eat burgers; it's more like a community living room, with an elegant yet unpretentious atmosphere, perfect for savoring your meal at a leisurely pace. All ingredients are sourced from Quebec. The beef patties are incredibly tender, paired with a rich tomato sauce, each bite absorbing the essence of tomato, 5 yrs cheddar cheese, and gravy.

Slightly pricier, but by far the best smash burger I have had in Montreal. Absolutely worth the extra ~2 dollars for the quality of the ingredients and care in preparation. Super interesting local drink options too (recommend the sparkling matcha drink). I hear the confusion over the awkward height of the tables, but I like that the tables can be moved around easily and find the configuration to be fun and playful. Looking forward to experiencing the outdoor space in the summer! They also have a GF bun option on the menu :)

I really wanted to like this place more, but it was just cringe watching ppl hunch awkwardly over burgers because the tables are low. Otherwise, the burger was passable and my fries were way over salted. However, the staff are great and really welcoming, I'll probably try back in a few months.

My new go-to spot for smash burgers! The staff is friendly, and they use local ingredients. The food is fresh and tasty — the meat is perfectly cooked, and the fries are just as good. They also have a veggie burger option. Plus, it’s a kid-friendly place, which makes it perfect for a casual family meal.

First thing: the burger is not drowned in sauce. No overcompensating, no mess for the sake of mess. It doesn’t rely on sauce the way a lot of places do, which means the meat actually has to carry its weight—and it does. Very well prepared, with something going on that we couldn’t quite identify. Maybe it’s the seasoning, maybe the technique, maybe just solid quality beef. Whatever it is, it's good. They also have a gluten-free bun option, which is always a nice touch. We paired it with a @messorembracitorium beer, which, as expected, was a good idea. And we had to have the cookies—massive ones from @paquebot_cafe, which we already love, so that’s an easy win. The seating is slightly confusing. The tables are low—like, tea-room low—which makes eating a burger feel like a bit of a posture exercise. Not exactly built for this type of food. Overall, it’s a simple smash burger. Nothing life-changing, not trying to reinvent the wheel—but solid. And in an area without many nearby smash burger options, it’s definitely a decent spot to have in the rotation

Hi! Coming from a Local Guide with such an extensive background, we really appreciate the detailed breakdown! 🙏🏻 We’re thrilled you noticed that we don't "drown" our burgers in sauce we're all about letting that high-quality, local beef speak for itself. We hear you on the seating, the "tea-room" height is definitely a unique vibe, and we appreciate the honest feedback on the ergonomics. We’re always looking for ways to balance our minimalist aesthetic with a comfortable dining experience! Big thanks 🙏 Bāgā's team

Very good burgers and friendly staff. All the ingredients are Canadian, and the menu is simple, which I really like. We had both the chicken and beef burgers, and they were equally good. The fries are great too. I usually add salt, but these were already perfectly seasoned with what seems like a house spice blend. The sauce served with the fries is also excellent. They add capers, which makes it stand out. I think it’s incredible value, especially considering the passion behind what is essentially a burger and fries concept. As for the seating, I initially found the low tables a bit unusual, but it ended up creating a relaxed, almost at-home feeling, like having a burger with friends. Overall, I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it. Great job.
