Tried this fairly new spot in Montreal after seeing really promising reviews. I ordered the smash chicken, the smash burger, and fries. Starting with the positives: the fries were great — could’ve been a touch crispier, but overall solid. The dipping sauce was a little tangy for my taste, but I actually ended up enjoying it. The smash chicken… I’m still not sure how I feel about smashed chicken as a concept. Flavor-wise, it just didn’t hit for me and felt slightly off. The smash burger was similar — if it weren’t for the sauce, it would’ve been pretty meh. The bacon also wasn’t cooked to my liking. I know it’s a thicker cut (so it won’t be super crispy), but it still felt undercooked and that threw me off. I’ll also mention that I didn’t feel great after the meal. I had been fasting for about a day and a half beforehand, so that could’ve contributed, but it’s still worth noting. Overall, it wasn’t terrible, but it didn’t wow me either. I usually try a place twice before making a final decision, so I’ll probably give it another shot. There’s definitely potential here.

The Chicken Smash: It’s a bold concept actually the only one in Montreal and we totally get that it can be a surprise for the palate! The Bacon: We use a thick cut for that signature Bāgā touch, but we’ll pay extra attention to the grill timing to make sure it’s spot on next time! Finally, we are truly sorry you weren’t feeling 100%. It’s true that after a day-and-a-half fast, a hearty, generous burger can be quite a shock to the system! We hope you’re feeling much better now. This spot shines with its fresh ingredients and perfectly executed smash beef burger—juicy, flavorful, and crisp around the edges. The smash chicken is a delicious surprise, unlike anything I’ve tried before. Friendly service rounds out the experience. Highly recommended!

A simple classic made with care and high quality ingredients = great final product. Love the crisp meat patties that spills out of the generous soft bun, the fresh cut potato fries alongside one of the best dipping sauces ever. Clean, sleek room with big bright windows yet feels like a homey chalet. Definitely can appreciate the passion from the owners who put a lot of thought into this endeavor. Wishing you much success!

This is the best burger on the Plateau. Friendly and accommodating staff, the fries are perfect, the presentation is excellent (Stainless dishware!). Great music too. 100% recommend.

I waited over 1.5 hours in -20°C weather for their “free burger for the first 100 customers” event. Just as I was about to enter, an employee came out and announced they had already reached 100 people and that we could now buy burgers instead. There were only about 25 people behind me, so letting us stand outside in freezing temperatures that long with no updates is simply bad business and poor organization. What makes this worse is that I was fully prepared to still support them by buying a second burger and fries even after waiting so long in the cold. But the lack of communication and respect for customers’ time made that impossible. If you run a promotion like this, you need clear counting, clear communication, and basic consideration for people standing in dangerous winter temperatures. This experience left a bad taste in my mouth.
