In the recent months, I feel that Arthur’s has lost its touch in the sense of being as welcoming and genuine as it used to be. While the quality of the food is still top notch as day one, the ambience has become very shallow, and full of “foodies” or “influencers who go there simply and only to post it on Instagram. Their saff also isn’t what it used to be in the sense of professionalism and as caring about their job and customers. Overall, the feel that we had was that minorities aren’t as important nor respected as most of the clientele. It was hurtful, sad, and appalling to be experiencing such thing at a popular restaurant. In mid 2025 Arthurs’s owners had released their first cookbook. When we went to their restaurant, we purchased a book with the hopes of the author(Raegan) who was at the restaurant same time as we were, would sign it for us. I mean what an honour. In the moment of when she started signing books for others, I approached her to kindly ask her for an autograph. She “seemed” eager and willing to do so. Asking us to please wait 5 mins or so and she will come to our table which she knew where we were sitting. More than 30 minutes later, there was no sight of her anymore. I asked the staff and I was informed that she had left the restaurant for the day. Prior to her leaving, there seems to be plenty of time for her to be bubbly, taking selfies with others, and overall being very superficial. Which is very very sad! When Arthur’s first opened, she was warm, kind, caring and an overall genuine person. I’ve tried kindly contacting her via Instagram to see if I could still get that autograph at a convenient time and date of her choice. She said, sure! Why I’m I mentioning all of this and not so much about the restaurant or the food. Because the food never judged us nor treated us as their staff and the owner herself did. We were squeaky clean, very well casually dressed, educated, and respectful. I suppose we missed the memo that we should be wearing designer brand clothing, be popular but ditzy, and most of all be someone that is popular enough to put the restaurant on the map that much more. Sad! I will forever miss the old Arthur’s and its genuine cozy ambience, without much of the staff often checking their phones/texting and delaying the service. Unacceptable!
Reviews / Ratings for Arthurs Nosh Bar
We have enjoyed our passage in Arthur’s Nosh Bar😍 Big up to their syrniki (best pancakes I swear)
This place didn’t disappoint. Amazing pancakes. A must if you are visiting Montreal.
A cute little breakfast/brunch spot, with retro decor and standard kosher breakfast selection: latkes, creamy scrambled eggs, gravlax on the rye or bagels, and their signature item, an inch thick fluffy syrniki( cheese pancakes). The items on the menu are somewhat limited (as is their coffee selection), but fresh, if a little plain to my taste. It is the service that needs some attention in my opinion.
The pancakes/syrniki were absolutely DELICIOUS. What ruined it for us was the poor service. Our waitress wasn't friendly at all and she barely looked at us in the eye. It felt like we were bothering her. It was my mom's birthday, so it's a special day. You want to feel welcome and at ease. This doesn't happen at Arthur's Nosh Bar unfortunately. At least we ate well.
This is my joint,Kitchen - Thank you for rocking it so hard !!Front of house - You guys are so friendly and fun, thanks!!
I'd like to consider my self a regular, love the staff and the food, I live next door and try to go there as much yet it's harder to go back now... In short good luck on whoe's table/waitress you fall on... I have had to walk out, after resisting multiple bad services: makes you feel like you are a burden, rush you, non smiley , you are a number, cut you mid questions... This has become more regular that the warning I tell people before we come in... "They get busy they might rush you"... The time we left... I was not alone I was enquiring about their menue ... they have a meal that combined pancake & chicken and I had simply forgotten the exotic name etc... and how the conversation went on was bad, during a non busy day (1l2 full)...even the person in my company and not involved with the convo suggested we leave ... So finally after probably 3 bad service experience I had to walk out and apologiesed to the kitchen to cancel my order.... And it will be hard to come back after this... There are a few sweethearts there and it breaks my heart to leave a review of bad service that would impact them but it's been long overdue... The sweet hearts I wish you to have: took their time , tailored my order to perfection, laughing smiling joking, making changes charging me for the obvious big changes or including small changes for free as I am a regular, greeting me in my home language , stoping me in the street to say hi or to pet my dog, asking me how to say things in my native language, exchange about dogs... If we come back I'll definitely ask before hand not to be assigned to particular staff but not sure if like to go through this again.
I went on my lunch hour with my daughter, to celebrate her birthday. We waited exactly an hour for pancakes, I understand mistakes happen however we had to ask the waitress if perhaps they had forgotten about our order in which they had once she checked with the kitchen. You would think she would have come to check at our table when we were sitting for so long without our food while others came in after us and got their food before us. The waitress was not friendly or very apologetic. Very under whelmed with the service and I don’t think I will ever return. Surprised such a popular place would have such a lousy waitress.
Beyond the hype, everything here hits. The honey toast is a must order!
Wow, I’m amazed at how good the food here was! My friend and I shared a smorgasbord (we added avocado, bread, and scrambled eggs to make sure it was filling for both) and were so impressed by how good it was! The challah bread is sensational and the scrambled eggs were absolutely divine. Not sure how they managed to make something as simple as scrambled eggs taste as good as it did, but Arthur’s really is that girl! The space is lovely and well-decorated and the staff were very friendly! The only thing I’ll say is that it gets rather crowded, we had to wait a bit over an hour to get a bar seats, so make sure to plan ahead. As of drinks, we got an iced vanilla latte and a London fog — both were good, but nothing extraordinary. The food truly is the highlight!
Food is excellent! The pancake is a meal itself. The perfect balance of sweet and savoury. The staff were great and made me excellent recommendations. I never felt forgotten. A great place for anyone for all occasions
If I could give them 6 stars I would! The food was outstanding. Not just 1 dish, everything on the plate was phenomenal. This was the best brunch I've ever had. Service was friendly and atmosphere was great. Highly recommend!
Incredible place i highly recommend. Try the pancakes they are to die for.
Delicious food and adorable atmosphere
Food was amazing, best fried chicken ive ever tried. Service vas exceptional. Nothing to regret waiting more than an hour for this. Back at montreal wont hesitate to go back.
I still dream about the gravlax plate I had here. It was smoked salmon with a lot of different toppings. It came with this rye bread that was so soft and well made. It was definitely on the lighter side for lunch, but the whole plate was so delicious and fresh that I inhaled it in probably minutes. This restaurant gets quite busy so we did have to put our name down and wait. However, it wasn't an unreasonable wait because I think we only waited around 15- 20 minutes. Anything under 30 minutes I would say it not too long. If I ever come back to Montreal, I would definitely visit this place again. I really enjoyed the food.
It's as good as they say and always crowded for a reason. The food is 👌🏻 and those pancakes are memorable!
The pancakes were amazing, mix of sweet and salty is just chefs kiss.
Fantastic food, reasonably priced and prompt service. Will definitely be back here!
Can’t go wrong with Arthurs. Amazing every time!!
The place is small so basically you can fully hear the conversation of the person next to you. However, the service and the food were great I didn’t get any drinks though. The quality-price ratio is very affordable and worth it. I recommend!!
Extremely tasty food, the pancakes were amazing 😋 Will definitely come back
I mean the place is good but the service is tooooo slow, they took 20 min in bringing a sandwich and another 20 min to bring me a single pancake. I’d say I’m 50/50 about this place because having to wait so long for a dish ruins the experience
Incredible breakfast and sandwiches. I had the breakfast sandwich and cottage cheese pancakes and both could qualify as the absolute best of their kind. I couldn't recommend this place enough and that was before I had their incredible chicken schnitzel sandwich which is a MUST EAT.
Great place to go for brunch with friends! There’s usually a wait, but it’s totally worth it. Their cottage pancakes are amazing and the salmon sandwich is also delicious.
