One of my favourite Montreal restaurants!
Reviews / Ratings for AMBER
Amber is an absolute must-visit for Indian food lovers in Montreal. From the moment you walk in, the beautiful decor sets the tone for a truly special dining experience. We visited on a quieter night — likely because a soccer game was keeping people home — which meant we enjoyed attentive, wonderful service without the usual wait. The staff made us feel genuinely welcomed throughout the entire evening. Now, the food. The menu boasts an impressive selection, and everything we tried was outstanding. But the real star of the show? The naan. Hands down the best naan we have ever had — perfectly pillowy, with just the right char. It alone is worth the trip. The drinks were equally impressive, and here’s a bonus for those who like to bring their own wine or beer: Amber is BYOB, making an already-great meal even more wallet-friendly. Whether you’re planning a date night or a group dinner, Amber delivers on every front — stunning ambiance, exceptional food, and warm hospitality. We’ll absolutely be back.
Beautiful place with great food ! It is a bring your wine place. There is a SAQ nearby and they have reasonably priced cocktails too! The lady was really helpful in suggesting items to try and they accommodated our schedule as we had to leave early for a concert. Highly recommend! Try the sesame naan ;)
Lived in Montreal for 5 yrs, and this restaurant is the only GOAT. Too good. Gotta try this mango mojito.
michelin is dogshi until they gave this 3 star
We wanted some comfort food as we were visiting Montreal and AMBER delivered on that. They offer a thali on Tuesday's and it comes with a choice of two non veg items and a veg item of the chef’s choosing. It also came with dessert, that you also get to choose. I chose the lamb korma, chicken tikka masala and kheer as my dessert. The chicken tikka had a small kick to it but could’ve been spicier tbh. The lamb korma was sweet imo. Both tasted really good but I would’ve liked it abit more spicier. The kheer was really good! My favourite. My husband got the beef Karahi, chicken tikka masala and rasmalai. The beef Karahi was quite tomato-heavy which I’m not a big fan of tbh. And he didn’t like the rasmalai too much either. He liked the kheer better. Overall, service was good. This is a BYOB establishment so you can bring your own alcoholic drinks and enjoy it here.
Old: It was super flavourful with good portions that come with unlimited rice ! My friend and I shared the eggplant and the veg korma. Staff were sweet 2026: I got the dal makhni desi style with rice. It was really delicious but I found the lentil to sauce ratio a bit too low. while you can order a second rice at no extra cost, the second rice came pretty cold which felt kinda cheap / petty of them (and they made a whole difficult speech about it when I asked if there’s unlimited rice instead of just saying “yes you can get a second rice free of charge if you need just ask”). The service by my waitress was ok. It seemed like she was a bit impatient and pushy with me but she kept on a nice smile and energy when talking. She was still likeable but it kind of put a damper on the experience of eating in a relaxing restaurant for me (which you definitely pay more for but you get gourmet food too.) I ordered 2 appetizers to take home and she was kind of pressuring me to pay a 18% tip on all 3 things I ordered instead of what I just ate in house. I corrected her and asked to pay 15% tip and she acted like she didn’t realize and was cool with it. I doubt it but ok. I’m looking forward to trying the gobi bites and baingan dahi (eggplant raita) tomorrow. The other waitress was really calm and sweet
Very good food, all our choices were crazy good. We shared chicken korma, butter chicken, chicken tika-masala, aloo Gobi, garlic naan and lots more I forgot. Everything was delicious, the staff was super friendly and service was quick. Make sure you visit the SAQ 2 blocks away. No alcool is served here. Pinot Noir is a good pairing!
It took a lot of time to serve us our food. Is pricy . I was disappointed.
One of the best places in town to go for dinner with friends or in a date. The food is supreme and the service unmatched.
best food
Good ambiance and BYOW, but I can have that at home. I come to a restaurant for a good meal, and was very disappointed. I ordered the lamb tikka for $28 which is advertised as "tender lamb pieces marinated...and grilled to perfection". Whatever it was, it was definitely not lamb. There was zero lamb flavour, and it was overcooked, dry and tough. The server was not friendly, barley said a word to us, and came exactly 3 times: to take our order, to bring the food and to bring the bill. Baffled as to why there are so many 5 star ratings.
Very good cheese naan. The garlic naan felt a bit too much however. The cauliflower dish was also delicious.
Our server was very nice and helped us decide what to order of all the delicious options. The chicken tikka boti was the best we've ever had and the lamb vindaloo was incredible and spicy. 10/10 amazing, some of the best indian food I've ever had
Excellent service!
This was our favourite place to order Indian from, but the recent price hikes are insane and we can no longer afford it. $27 for a curry and $6 for a single basmati rice before taxes and fees is highway robbery. Sad because it was very tasty :(
Great atmosphere.. lights could be dimmer at 7:30 pm for late February Like the bring your own wine. Had chicken tandoori , excellent. Found out after I could order spicy version .. will definitely go back and order extra spicy .
Food was decent, needed more salt and spice. Left the waitress $7.50 as a tip and she tried admonishing me in front of my table since it wasn't exactly 15%. Very rude
The food was succulent, the staff fun and friendly... I highly recommend.
10/10 super amazing food, service and beautiful place Perfect for date
We really enjoyed our visit to Amber. Very welcoming atmosphere, delicious food and very good service! Will be back for sure!
I don’t know how this place doesn’t have all 5 star reviews! It’s so good, everything we had was amazing- butter chicken, chicken korma, onion baji and the cauliflower bites. The service was great!
Food, was excellent, so was the service and atmosphere. Will be going back!
I have loved this restaurant for a few years now. But the recent hike in prices is outrageous! Within less than a month prices increased over 40% for main dishes. I can't think of anything that would warrant such a steep and sudden change. As much as I like the food and the atmosphere of the place, I'm not sure I will ever return. The food is good, but absolutely not worth these prices.
The food was mediocre - you can’t complain but I wouldn’t come again. Considering that the price is way too high in my opinion. Additionally the staff/owner wasn’t very friendly. There is better Indian food in Montreal.
