We ordered chef’s special which was grilled duck, prawns and rice, and an extra soup. Soup was great, lemon rice was super delicious but duck was overcooked and hard to chew, which was quite unfortunate. Service was average.

We visited Alphonse three times during our long weekend stay in Old Quebec City. Morgann and her team run a fabulous restaurant! Definitely will visit again when in town.

Very disappointing. We had the chicken which was tough, the carrots were almost still raw, and the mashed potatoes gluey. Would not recommend.

The place itself is good but the food wanted a little, my boyfriend and I have been to the restaurant a few times, and yes the food was good. More than a while for here it was very bad, our steak seemed that it was only heated in the microwave literally and its face and also the flavor was not good, and it was also small. And the service was horrible the girls in a rush and it was more important the people who were eating on the terrace and not inside the restaurant, a not very nice experience

Last time when we went to this place the food was amazing but today food was horrible. Salmon was okay but steak was bad. Steak look like they cook day before yesterday and it’s test bitter. I order medium but it’s well done plus it’s look like it’s not cook fresh. I like to say we pay money to eat good food not a shit. I feel disappointed and disrespected by not getting a good food while I had a good steak before.

Great atmosphere/ambiance in the heart of all that’s best about Quebec City. Walking distance from shopping district. Exceptional cocktails, fantastic food. Superb service in a beautifully decorated space!

Has great location, a nice atmosphere, and the prices are quite affordable. However , our experience with the food and service was disappointing. We had to wait a very long time for our courses, and when the food finally arrived, it was cold, dry, and lacked flavor. The dishes were missing spices and seasoning, which made the meal quite bland.

The best Caesar I have ever had! I get them wherever I go and it was amazing. Service was friendly and impeccable. The burger was delish and the crème brûlée was excellent. Can’t wait to come back

Went for their lunch special, the food was very good especially the steak frite. Kids friendly small cozy spot in the heart of old port. Prices are consistent with other restaurants around hence the lunch special we chose was more on the budget side. Would go back.

Lovely food, great location The food was exquisite. Perfectly cooked. Service was great also. Only down side was the music. Far too loud. Please turn it down a bit so we can have a conversation. Please don't be discouraged from going here though. Nit was lovely, just aso them to turn the volume down. Would I recommend: Yes Would I go again: Yes Value for money: Average

During our visit to Quebec City for the Winter Carnival in February 2026, my fiancée and I stumbled upon a remarkable hidden gem, Alphonse Cuisine & Cocktails. After crossing the expansive Saint Lawrence River by ferry and feeling quite hungry, we sought a new dining experience instead of our usual spot. As we wandered through the charming streets of lower Quebec City, we were drawn to this quaint bistro, distinguished by its pristine glass window and inviting atmosphere, conveniently located near the ferry docks on Rue des Jardins, Quebec. Upon entering, we were warmly welcomed by Marguerite, our server, who introduced us to the elegantly designed space that exuded a modern yet cozy ambiance. With only one other couple present, we settled into comfortable leather chairs, where Marguerite presented us with the menu, offering detailed descriptions of each dish. We opted for the sweet potato soup as an appetizer, which was light and flavorful, followed by an impeccably cooked 8-ounce flank steak served with homemade peppercorn sauce, matchstick fries, and a fresh mixed green salad. For dessert, Marguerite recommended the exquisite black cherry and spice crème brûlée, which exceeded our expectations with its delightful flavours. The entire dining experience, from the attentive service of Marguerite to the meticulous preparation of each dish, was exceptional, showcasing the undeniable talent of the chef. We wholeheartedly recommend Alphonse Cuisine & Cocktails to anyone seeking a memorable culinary experience.

Went to Alphonse Cuisine & Cocktails recently. The onion soup wasn’t the best, and the melted brie was just okay. However, the carbonara as a main was delicious and really stood out. The Negroni to wash it down was perfect. Overall, a mixed start but a strong main and excellent cocktail.

Never seen a slower service anywhere. Drinks taking 40 mins to arrive dinner service upwards of an hour. Food portions and quality mediocre. Especially disappointing considering the price. Would avoid if you value your time and money.

Soo good it’s already gone. Crème brûlée tastes like pumpkin pie, it is so good. The best I’ve ever had, no distinctive eggy taste which I personally hate. Very sweet and light. Great music. I got the asparagus Parmesan soup for the day which was DELICIOUS! I was hesitant as yuck? Asparagus? But it was creamy and delightful. I also got a chef special, brazed chicken with a gravy cream and somehow the cheesiest mashed potatoes you’ve ever had. Amazing.

My curling team spent 6 nights in Quebec for a big tournament. We had reserved Alphonse for the first night of our stay and loved it so much we went back later in the week for lunch! Ambiance is wonderful. Food is excellent. Service is amazing. We were so happy - and we recommended the resto to several of our curling friends during the week. If it's on the menu when you visit, you have to try the mushroom ravioli.... WOW. We will be back next year!!!
