Many of us worry more about our food and choose the healthiest dishes possible, but sometimes we miss the time. The fast food is so tempting ... So it was with enthusiasm that I decided to try Saladshop, a new fast food chain featuring the salad. For now, the restaurant has two branches, one in Ste-Foy in the pyramid and the other in Lebourgneuf, which I visited.

The decor is contemporary and refined, it is neat, but lacks heat. But, I loved the big white picnic tables in the middle of the dining room. If they are occupied, one settles at one of the counters, on a stool.

Chicken, smoked salmon, steak, tuna, proteins vary a lot from one salad to another. The choices are colorful and daring: tao salad, Asian salad with rolls, fried pork salad, for example. The menu also includes more traditional salads like Caesar with chicken and nachos or chef's salad with chicken and boiled eggs. In addition to the highly creative menu, an exclusive salad is featured each month. However, I spent my turn on the monthly salad at the time of my passage (salad poutine), I was not yet mentally ready to marry frying and greenery. You can also enjoy paninis or wraps with a soup or salad.

Among the great variety on the menu, my choice was on salmon salad citrus. On a spring mix were two pieces of salmon, grapefruit supremes, red onion rings, almonds and dried cranberries. Served alongside, a pear and maple vinaigrette. A word first on the presentation: superb. Really, for fast food, I was conquered, everything was colorful and put in appetite. The dishes are prepared in front of us, like the submarine restaurants, but the recipes are already pre-established, we do not choose the filling. At the time, I was delighted that the vinaigrette was not added to the dish immediately to let us put it to our convenience, but I was then disappointed. With this gigantic bowl filled generously with lettuce, it was very difficult to mix the dressing evenly without dipping the food on the tray. It would be interesting to offer customers to pre-mix the salad dressing, because in the end, I did not distinguish the flavors of this sauce pear and maple. The grapefruit was a little too bitter, but the almonds and cranberries came back. The red onions were as well dosed and not strong in the mouth. I had to set aside a few strands of less vigorous greenery, but I do not question the freshness of the restaurant, because every time I get this mix at the grocery store, some leaves survive less well to transport.

I had also chosen to warm myself in front of a good bowl of soup and the chicken and noodles were ok, but nothing more. She could not be more traditional. I would have liked to be tempted by biscuits, but their presentation in the window almost empty did not give much envy.

Saladshop also offers delivery, which is really interesting to know since it's a funny change from pizza or traditional quarter-fries. I also welcome the initiative to put reusable dishes and utensils for (many) customers to eat on site.

Finally, barely an hour later, my belly was complaining. I was not satisfied with my dish. The greenery was abundant, but the salmon was a little missing. Maybe I should have taken one of the protein shakes on the map? I do not say no to Saladshop, even though several other tasty salads made me want to, but I would choose a protein that would satisfy my appetite and I would ask to mix the vinaigrette. I am happy to have a new and healthier option in the world of fast food. I keep this address in my pocket.
