I like to surprise me. I love concepts that are out of the ordinary and I love sushi. The conditions were all gathered so that I appreciate my visit to Nicky Sushi in Limoilou. After being closed for a short time for renovations, the restaurant reopened with a brand new formula: a sushi river. No question of missing the boat!

From the week following the reopening, I went to the restaurant on rue Canardière on a Thursday night. The pretty yellow and black sign can be seen from a distance. You can not miss the establishment. As I had booked before, we settled on the river, inspired by a concept that exists mainly in Japan. I climb on the stool and I see the pretty boats parade. Well, for now they are empty, but I sit directly in front of the kitchen and I see everyone busy. It would not be long.

We explain the concept, just rely on the color of the plates to know its price. During the evening, the plates are stacked empty and at the end of the meal, the server does the count to know the amount of the bill.

Let's go! Cooking in the first row starts to put the plates in the boats. They look attractive! But obviously, they do not go to me, customers sitting before me jump on it! Heck! Some of them pass thus under my hungry eyes, without being able to arrive safely; they find takers at the speed of lightning. After a few waltzes and conducted, the cook decides to drop the next plates directly on the second row! The guests at the end of the table and I will have our chances! I taste delicious tempura shrimp, I love the coating of fried noodles. I then put a few plates of sushi as the pace increases. I also appreciate the side dishes that parade and I set my sights on edamames who make a pleasant side. I allow myself a black plate (the most expensive) and I enjoy. The sushi is fresh, succulent and I love the playfulness of the river. I would have liked a little more animation. The cook at the front clearly had "mud in the forelock," but as he faces us, a few more customer interactions would have been welcome. It would also have allowed me to know what I chose, because often we go to random!

I do a quick mental calculation ... it goes up fast! I allow myself one last plate. Delicious scallop sushi crowns my meal.
