Cheap restaurants have begun to emerge in recent years. We are promised quality cuisine with the ingredients of choice for a small fee. It is by following this wave that the restaurant L'Gros Luxe was born. First in Montreal, then in Quebec, on Myrand Avenue.

 

Street busy where it is good to walk, I stopped at this inviting address in the early afternoon, a beautiful sunny Sunday. My heart was light and I just wanted to enjoy the sun's rays. So I went to the terrace after a glance at the splendid Victorian-style dining room. However, it was a warm welcome that I received from the young waiter who did not point me to a table at all. It seemed a little destabilized by the fact that I'm alone. Do you ever eat alone at the restaurant? Yet it is a simple pleasure for which there is no need to wait to have company!

 

Finally, they bring me the menu. I'm disappointed, it's almost 2 pm, but the card is almost entirely composed of brunch plates. However, it seems to delight customers around me who are mostly come to enjoy a morning meal! We do not all have the same leisure to get up late. At 2 pm, my day was already well underway and anyway, I wanted something lighter with all this heat. Luckily, a small "Express" section is proposed. The choice is more limited, but the quinoa salad is in full happiness! I wanted to cool.

 

Immediately ordered, it is not long that the salad finds the way to my table. I must say that it is appetizing like no one! The thin slices of yellow beets decorate the bowl, the quinoa salad bursts and the young shoots crowned everything. A bite and that's it, the mixture has satisfied my taste buds. I loved the walnuts caramelized with maple syrup and the acidic contribution of granny smith balanced with the sweetened dried cranberries. For me, the mix was number 1! However, if we had wanted to raise the salad just a notch, I would have added a little more seasoning.

 

I was really happy with my choice, but I could not help but think: $ 12 for a quinoa salad, is it really more affordable than elsewhere? If I had not had this budget expectation in mind, I would have found it all reasonable, but in the end, I felt it was a bit expensive. Especially since they left me in the plane with the payment machine, without even thanking me or saying goodbye.
