Are you increasingly concerned about the quality of the food you eat and where it comes from? Me too! Besides, I deplore the fact that it is not always possible to eat healthy and on the go at the same time. As if the two did not go together!

One afternoon when I was supposed to go to the Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures area, I looked at the restaurant options where I could stop for dinner and that's how I came across Colibri. I had never heard of it! By consulting the menu on my phone, I was already sold: energizing salads, healthy pitas, it was exactly what I was looking for!

Health counter
It is on the Jean-Gauvin road that the local is located, next to the Sushibox restaurant which I had heard a lot about! Once through the door, it is impossible to go unnoticed with the long chime announcing our arrival. If the sound signal is surprising, it has the merit of offering us immediate service. To our left, a refrigerated counter allows those in a hurry to quickly grab a bowl or a wrap to take away, to buy homemade products such as vinaigrettes or pesto and even to buy some grocery items such as fruit. and vegetables.

Express order
I had a little time in front of me, so I decided to eat there. To my right, the dining room consisted of two long wooden tables. So I sat at one of them and my host informed me that I could place my order directly on my phone by choosing the “on site” option and indicating my table number. I even paid directly when ordering! Wow, I liked the concept which turned out to be effective and which allowed me to take the time to take a good look at the menu and not wait for the bill when I was finished. The dining room was visually pleasing with lovely plants and soft colors, but it didn't seem completely tidy. Half-open order boxes and items lay here and there. I almost felt “too much”. The temperature of the room was also particularly cold although the summer was behind us. I regretted a little my choice to eat there as well as my big warm sweater left in the car.

Irreproachable freshness
I quietly perused the menu and finally settled on the Israeli salad trio with sparkling soda water and energy balls to go. I didn't have to wait long before I received my appetizing colorful bowl. On a bed of tenderized kale and cooled cooked quinoa, were placed falafels still a little warm accompanied by sweet potatoes, cherry tomatoes, pickled beets and turnips, hummus and crumbled goat cheese. Honestly, what a delight! And what freshness! I was also very disappointed to be alone and not to be able to share how this meal completely fulfilled its mission. I was a bit skeptical about the “jalapeños-lime” vinaigrette, I am not a fan of spiciness, but my fears evaporated when I tasted this well-dosed delicacy.

If only to say how much I enjoyed my meal, I would have liked someone to come and see me again, once the dish was served for the traditional “Everything is to your taste? “, but unfortunately no one came. So I left, my stomach full, but full of energy.

It wasn't until the end of the day that I thought back to the peanut-chocolate flavored energy balls I had taken to go. I was not really hungry and it was simply out of pure greed that I bit into one of them. My God! What happiness! Definitely the best I have ever eaten!

Colibri will definitely see me again, but no doubt to have a meal to take away and share. A healthy address to discover absolutely!
