When it comes to sushi, everyone has ITS little place to recommend. For my part, I always have a hard time comparing sushi from one restaurant to another. I have no problem doing this for poutines, pasta, pizza, etc., but for me sushi is generally the same. As I am an avid curious, I did not give up on the idea of ??putting my finger on MY sushi place. Whenever I have a craving for raw fish, I try to try a new place.

In my recent research, I was surprised to find Gemini Sushi that I had never heard of. With excellent reviews and affordable prices, I ordered the Love Combo for Two to share with my boyfriend.

I always prefer to go for ready-made platters than to choose each type of sushi individually to create an assortment. So I like it when restaurants offer several and Gemini suggests a dozen. For two people, the selected combo consisted of 24 pieces, or 8 shooters, 6 fried makis, 10 futomakis of the chef's choice and the salmon tartare.

I arrive there to pick up my order and realize that this is the former location of Restaurant Athena which served Greek and family cuisine. Gemini Suhsi moved there in the spring of 2018. I'm a bit late! But, there are so many new restaurants that it's hard to keep track of the thread. Although the interior has been updated with a modern twist, some aspects of the decor are still a bit dated.

My tray is magnificent and appetizing! I find it well balanced. A touch of frying and a great deal of freshness. The sushi turns out to be delicious and yes, I can distinguish it from the ones I'm used to, but I can't quite put my finger on the precise elements. It's a whole. The garnish is not completely original: avocado, cucumber, crabmeat, salmon, the classics! However, I am delighted by the shooters who are making a difference! First, they weren't covered with a nori sheet, they weren't covered with a sheet of rice, then the ultra-delicate filling and the slight spiciness were downright refreshing! It goes without saying that the fried sushi was also excellent, although it shouldn't be overused.

The only downside in my tray: the salmon tartare. My boyfriend and I had the same reaction: the color turned us off. Used to a bright orange, the pale side of the fish made us doubt and recoil… Considering the incredible freshness of the other sushi on the plate, it must undoubtedly be very good, but the desire was not there. We preferred to put it aside!

While doing my homework, I then learned that the chef, Cuong Ho, has a PhD in Food Science! That’s why I still believe it was just a matter of perception. But, above all, we eat with the eyes!
