In the heart of the small village of Yamachiche, between the famous red brick houses, stands the café La Bezotte, erected in a former doctor's residence. The restaurant is like a little treasure in this town of 2900 souls. Focused on local products, it serves fresh and authentic market cuisine, prepared and served by true enthusiasts.

What joy on this warm, particularly early spring evening, to sit on the splendid rear terrace. With its luminous garlands, it is instantly warm. They welcome us with great happiness and we are taken care of with the surprise menu for two. It's hard to please me more than letting myself be guided to the restaurant, I love surprises!

Thus, a series of dishes to share were served to us, each more delectable than the other. With everything, a delicious bottle of Cavalier du Versant, a Quebec wine from Domaine Gélinas, was our perfect accompaniment. The evening started on a fresh note with an impeccable scallop ceviche. As a second starter: homemade naan bread and homemade ricotta, served with marinated cucumbers and candied lemons. An absolute favorite for both of us, a pure taste pleasure! We like the last tasting just before the main course. In a very crunchy puff pastry hides a trout rillette from Saint-Alexis-des-Monts on a nest of fresh asparagus and a vegetable whose name I have unfortunately forgotten (a cross between a bok choy and a broccolini ). Everything turned out to be most satisfying. A veritable crescendo of flavors.

The main course was unfortunately the one we liked the least: a plate of homemade gnocchi and Jerusalem artichokes with bacon bits in a veal reduction. The flavors were sublime, it was only the texture of the gnocchi that was less in our palette. Although they were chewy, we prefer them when seared and crispy on the outside.
A sweet little cake topped with a toasted marshmallow and paired with haskap sorbet ended the evening in style.

La Bezotte, a must in the Maskinongé region!
