"Barbies resto-bar grill, what a place, what a feast and a whole ambience, ah, ah, aahhh". Whether or not you've ever been to a Barbies restaurant, we've probably heard the ad. It belongs, we must say, to the category of worms. Once in, difficult to get out of the skull. So it was for almost a week that the song rolled in the background of my thoughts, and this, from the moment I was invited to a birthday meal at Barbies Lebourgneuf.
The chain has been established for several years in the Montreal region, but now it is moving to Quebec. Already having his followers, the restaurant has traction. We noticed when arriving 15 minutes before the time of booking: impossible to enter the room before the scheduled time. So we wait with customers who have not booked. But time is stretching. The hostess comes quickly to see us to apologize for the delay by informing us that she will order nachos for us as soon as our table will be released. We appreciate the attention!
We finally settle in, but we are in a corner of the restaurant. Unlike large open areas that are becoming more common, it is a dining room divided into several sections to which we are entitled. It feels a little cramped. Our waiter comes to explain the menu and the nachos make their arrival noticed at the table.
In festive mood, the table orders a few pitchers of sangria. We drink while enjoying the nacho. I hesitate for my main course, the menu is impressive. There are many choices. I finally opt for the filet mignon. However, an entrée salad is included. I choose the gardener. When she arrives, I find her gigantic. It's an entry? Yes, I'm reassured. The vegetables are fresh, the crisp lettuce, the tasty salad dressing, everything is fine. But casually, my stomach is filled ... and kebabs coming. Filed in front of me, the plate looks appetizing, but the presentation is old school. The filet mignon is grilled even if cooking is cooked rather than medium as requested. Rice and vegetables are good, but my stomach makes the apron after a few bites.
As it was a birthday dinner, the jubilee and some guests order a dessert. I must warn you, the portions are titanic!
