If it is not quite true that Saint-Paulin is the end of the world (located between Quebec and Montreal), it is still surprising to find a bistronomic restaurant in the middle of the Mauritian countryside. The Éco-café Au bout du monde is built in the sumptuous Le Baluchon complex. An exquisite vacation spot!

The site also includes two separate restaurants and the Éco-café Au bout du monde is the establishment where lunches, dinners and “in-between” meals are served. For the evening meal, it is to the second dining room that we go. For my part, it was at lunchtime that I sat down there, being only passing through for a short stop.

I was first charmed by the rustic decoration echoing the history of the region, stuck to the paper industry. On the menu, everything is tempting. I am delighted with the variety offered for lunch menu! Sometimes neglected, here research shines through. Between the Pasta di Alfredo with Zaatar, the smoked trout wrap or the Angus beef gravlax, my heart swings. I finally opt for Poutine, you have an effect on me.

I rejoice when it is placed in front of me and I appreciate the fact that it is appetizing, thus surmounted by micro-greens. We make it elegant. On the fried potatoes, a mountain of cheese curds and an avalanche of pork from the estate. The sauce that unites everything is divine. In short, a real good poutine.

My companion, for his part, leaned in favor of pasta with Zaatar. A first encounter for him with this seasoning which turned out to be a happy one. Linguini topped with homemade Alfredo sauce and a mixture of mushrooms, cipolini onions and homemade roasted garlic. A winning combination!

After a delicious meal, don't forget to stop by the shop to stock up on local products.
