Montreal Canadiens participation in playoff semis of National Hockey League has not only pleased the fans. All restaurants and sport bars also won. But most happy are probably the owners of La Cage aux Sports.

The restaurant franchise has indeed know its most profitable quarter in its history. The operator of restaurants, Groupe Sportscene, posted a net profit of 1.6 million.

The 49 restaurants in Quebec have increased their sales by 5% during the month of March, April and May. Despite gains in recent months, the beginning of the year was marked by a slowdown, not the crowds, but sales.

The economic recovery announced by governments should be felt only at the end of 2010 in the field of restoration. For the Cage aux Sports, the playoffs should help increase sales of the early NHL season, scheduled this fall.

Subsequently, in winter 2011, Sportscene will open the 50th restaurant of the popular sports franchise.
