Great bagels
Reviews / Ratings for St-Viateur Bagel & Café Mont-Royal
Great visit to St-Viateur! Note that it’s cash only, but they do accept both USD and CAD. The sesame bagel with cream cheese was excellent, perfectly crunchy on the outside and lighter than typical U.S.-style bagels, making it a great quick bite. The setup is well organized with separate lines for bagel sandwiches and for bulk bagel orders to go, which helps things move efficiently even when it’s busy.
This is a cozy Plateau spot that absolutely deserves its reputation for top‑tier Montreal‑style bagels. The wood‑fired bagels are warm, slightly sweet, perfectly chewy. They offer multiple vegetarian choices as well, the Classic bagel is my favourite. Service is fast and friendly even when it is busy, the atmosphere is relaxed, and it is the kind of place that quickly becomes a go‑to stop every time you are in Montreal. Note : Please prepare to stand in the line as there is always a line to go inside, but all worth it.
Very crowded, very long lines but staff are quick and efficient. Bagels were very fresh, lots of different variety of spreads and cheese. They have a nice do it yourself station after you purchase your bagels and food to create your bagel how you want. Would definitely recommend, it was a fun experience
We went on a weekday around 10am and the place was pretty empty. We got the traditional on sesame and it was amazing. Definitely better than any bagel you can get in Toronto. Great service and staff as well. It’s Canadian Debit or Cash only.
If you don’t have cash or CANADIAN BANK don’t even go. I’m a tourist with no Canadian bank and I couldn’t buy from them, just waste my time. All the merch and stuff that we can’t even buy.
Skip the line, grab one (or six) hot fresh bagels from the takeaway counter, a couple small pots of chive cream cheese- rip n dip, baby!!
I was told this was THE place to get Montreal bagels, but they were okay. Maybe if i had tasted the competition, i could say definitively that these were the best but it was a bit of a jaunt from my hostel, so if i account for distance, price, and quality its a 3.
No gluten free options. Only take Cad debit card, cash (USD or Cad). Bagels are freshly made, lots of varieties
It’s just bagels. Nothing fancy. Don’t get me wrong, the food was fine, service was fine. It just wasn’t worth standing in line for 30 minutes for. If there wasn’t a line I might have rated it higher.
