Unfortunately, this New Year’s Eve dinner was disappointing. Despite having a reservation, we were seated in a corner and immediately noticed filthy, stained menus. After some time, a man poured water for us but didn’t introduce himself. Later, we realized he was also our server. While generally courteous, there was no introduction or basic attentiveness. We ordered the Wednesday date-night special (appetizer, two mains, and dessert). The appetizer was good, but the mains were not. Both steaks were ordered medium—mine arrived medium-rare (confirmed by the server), and my date’s steak was so chewy she couldn’t finish it. We were also charged for a sauce without being informed there was an added fee. After finishing what we could, we waited 10–15 minutes for our server, who never returned. Eventually, another server, Kevin, informed us the previous server (Alex) had gone home. Kevin was noticeably more professional, kind, and attentive. He promptly brought us a dessert menu, which we had been waiting to order. The lime pie we chose was average. We were later told Alex had been given our table near the end of his shift, which explains the lack of service. Overall, I won’t be dining at this location again. It’s unfortunate to receive service that didn’t merit gratuity, yet not tipping felt like reinforcing an unfair stereotype—especially during the holidays. That said, there’s always room to improve, and I hope this feedback is taken constructively.
