Atmosphere…. So, there is music in the background, a party in the back with an emcee AND they turned on the volume for the hockey game… absolute chaos. Order a dish of shrimp pasta. There was ONE shrimp cut in two…. Hostess brought our food at the wrong table. When filling up water, instead of going around, they would just reach over us and so on. Gave it a try even though I knew they were the same owners as Demande Générale and wished I hadn’t. They both fall into the never again category.

I hate giving places bad reviews after one visit, but it would seem that disappointment follows the owners where ever they go. The owners of this new restaurant are the same owners of another local resto. And when they opened that first restaurant it was quite good. See my first review of La Demande Generale. My family went back a few more times to worse and worse quality and service. Granted, Covid was involved in the timeline but my last visit there was for takeout and it was a complete disappointment. So much so that I haven't been back since. This leads us to tonight. This was a special evening. It was to celebrate a milestone in life. We decided as a family to try a new local restaurant. I will first defend the place. There was a lot going on. A birthday party, a large group, the hockey playoffs. That can excuse the service to a certain extent, that does not excuse the overall food and ambiance experience. The servers were slow to greet us after seating us but it was obvious there was one waitress that had way more experience than the others. That seems to be the major problem with the service, save one, they were largely inexperienced. We ordered drinks and my beer was perfect, one of the drinks delivered to the table was not far from sugar and water and a slice of cucumber. The barman was more interested in the hockey game than making drinks. To the point where the only capable waitress had to remind him to do his job. Appetizers were good, portions were big and presentation was good. This is the high point of the evening. Service between courses was long, and the place itself was very loud. Conversations from all tables could be heard from any seat and the was some kind of DJ for the birthday party who could be heard with their microphone. Mains were served and our meals got delivered to the wrong table. Water was served with the waitress reaching across me in front of my face. There were many little things like this. I'm complaining because you can forgive this at some little mom and pop resto or some local greasy spoon, but when I'm ordering a $65 Filet Mignon, I expect the service to live up to that price. What disappoints even more is the quality of the food, of the ingredients. The place presents itself as upscale and delivers country diner. My family ordered Papardelle al Limone, which is described as topped with shrimp. There was one whole shrimp cut in half on the plate. The pasta was bland and the butter parmesan sauce was so watered down you could barely taste it. There was the filet mignon that was well presented and cooked to order, but the vegetables were overcooked and the pureed potatoes had no taste. The Filet had a big marble of fat running through it, so there was that. When the waitress came back and saw three barely eaten plates she asked if we were finished, yes was the answer. She asked if we wanted it to go, we said no. She started to ask another question, but stopped herself. I knew she was aware that we were not satisfied and it was going to cause her grief to try and make it right. She simply took the plates and walked away. And didn't come back for a long time with the bill, and then another long time with the machine. It was clear, there were no coffees or desserts to be ordered, she had a table of unhappy customers and too many tables to attend. When you are charging upscale prices to your customers, you MUST deliver upscale food. You must have upscale ambiance, this is not a sports bar. At one point the volume of the TV was cranked so the staff could listen to the game. I did not complain, there was no point. This is their business model. Low quality ingredients, understaffed, and lackluster service. It has been this way across both of their businesses on numerous occasions. This is not a one time thing. Shame on me for giving you my hard earned money again. Living in a small town, I strive to support local. I've learnt my lesson, never again. Give it a try if you dare, I hope you have a good experience, but I feel you'll be disappointed.

Today my partner and I decided to visit this restaurant. The food was good, the place is cozy and very nice, but the service disappointed us. Even though it wasn't very busy and there were only three waitresses, everything was late, poorly presented, the coffee cups were dirty—everything about the service was bad.

Was in the attached hotel, and ordered a just before close Greek salad to pickup. Best horiatiki greek salad I have had in a while! Can't wait to try the rest of the menu next time.

The Valentines Gastronomic menu was highly recommended, although for $100 per person portions were fairly small for the price paid. Good selection of wine, ambience was poor and extremely vague. I suggest that the management implements a dress code for their employees.
