Kulcha King on Jean Talon is a hidden gem for anyone craving authentic kulchas in Montreal. Their kulchas are easily some of the best in town — fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right with a perfect crispy outside and soft filling inside. It’s a small restaurant, but the food speaks for itself. If you’re looking for delicious, satisfying kulchas, I’d definitely recommend giving this place a try.
Reviews / Ratings for Kulcha King Restaurant
Kulcha King Restaurant turned out to be such a delightful surprise. We tried the aloo kulcha with chana and chutney, as well as the mix veg kulcha, and everything tasted incredibly fresh and flavorful. The stuffing was perfectly seasoned, and the texture of the kulchas was just right—crispy yet soft. I especially loved how well the chana paired with the bread—it was rich without being too heavy. The chutney added a lovely freshness that tied everything together. We also had chai and masala soda, which were both very satisfying—the chai felt warm and authentic, while the masala soda was refreshingly different. It’s one of those places where the food exceeds expectations, regardless of how simple the setting may look. I would definitely come back and recommend it to anyone who appreciates authentic Indian flavors.
The experience at Kulcha King Restaurant was genuinely impressive. I ordered the aloo kulcha served with chana and chutney, along with a mix veg kulcha, and both dishes were outstanding in flavor and authenticity. The kulchas were perfectly crisp on the outside while remaining soft and generously stuffed inside—clearly made with care and traditional technique. The chana had a deep, well-balanced spice profile, complementing the richness of the kulchas beautifully, while the chutney added a refreshing contrast. To complete the meal, I tried their chai and masala soda—both were excellent. The chai was aromatic and comforting, and the masala soda provided a tangy, refreshing finish. Despite its modest exterior, the food quality speaks volumes. This place truly delivers an authentic taste of Amritsar right here in Montreal. Highly recommended for anyone craving genuine North Indian street-style flavors.
Great service by Sarb ❤️
We ordered Onion Kulcha, Paneer Kulcha (comparatively good) and Gobi Kulcha (not very great). Vegetarian biryani was not good. The vegetables (carrot and peas) in the biryani were uncooked. The chicken biryani was a little better than everything else we ordered.
The food was very good here they went above and beyond for our order Definitely suggests everyone.
I recently visited Roi Kulcha King and had an amazing experience! The food was absolutely delicious — every bite was full of flavor and clearly made with care. On top of that, the service was great: friendly, attentive, and made us feel really welcome. Definitely a place I’d recommend if you’re looking for tasty food and a great dining experience!
I recently visited this restaurant with a friend, and it turned out to be a fantastic experience. We ordered butter chicken and Amritsari kulcha, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The butter chicken was rich, creamy, and full of flavor, with perfectly tender pieces of chicken. The kulcha was fresh, crispy on the outside, and stuffed generously—it paired perfectly with the meal. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy good food with friends. The service was also friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. Overall, it was a memorable meal, and I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves authentic and flavorful Indian food. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Updated review after owner response: I recently visited Kulcha King with a friend while exploring Montreal. Since we are from Brampton, we searched on Google for good Indian food and this place appeared as one of the top recommendations. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. We ordered one plate of kulcha per person and one lassi, but the server never explained that one plate includes two kulchas. Later she brought extra kulchas and said that a plate always comes with two pieces. This was never clearly explained when we ordered, which created confusion. It honestly felt like a strategy to charge more by automatically serving two pieces per plate without properly informing customers. The food quality was also very poor. The chana was undercooked and had almost no flavor, which is the most important part of a kulcha meal. The kulchas themselves were very average, and even the lassi tasted bad. When we told the staff we didn’t want the extra food, they insisted that we should take it home or eat it so the food wouldn’t be wasted, even though the misunderstanding was not our fault. In the end, I paid $43 in cash for two disappointing kulchas and a lassi, which felt like a waste of money. On top of that, the staff didn’t even provide a receipt after the payment. Overall, it was a very bad experience, and I would not recommend this place. Update after the owner’s response - When I placed the order, I clearly said one plate kulcha and one lassi. Normally when customers visit a restaurant, the staff makes sure there is no confusion in the order. However, your staff never confirmed that one plate includes two pieces or asked whether I wanted one piece or two pieces. When the order came and we realized the misunderstanding, we told the staff that we did not want the extra kulchas. We had a discussion for about 10–15 minutes explaining that we did not want them, and we did not even take the two extra kulchas that were prepared. Despite this, we were still asked to pay for them. During that entire discussion, no compensation or solution was offered, even though we did not take the extra food. If it was truly a misunderstanding, the situation could have been handled at that moment by simply acknowledging the confusion and not charging us for the extra items. After charging the full amount, writing in the reply that we should call and the money will be returned does not really solve the issue. If compensation was intended, it should have been offered on the spot during the discussion, not afterwards in a response to the review. This review is not just about money. It is about the overall customer experience and how the situation was handled. I am simply sharing my honest experience so other customers can be aware.
Good service
I had a great experience at Kucla King Restaurant. I tried the bread pakoda and the kulcha thali, and both were delicious—fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The service really stood out as well. Kanchan, our waitress, was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect throughout the meal. Overall, a satisfying visit with good food and excellent service. I’d definitely come back again.
Really delicious food and reasonably priced. Dishes are big and great service.
Nice family restaurant. Fast service and very tasty food.
If you are craving for a North Indian food and specifically an authentic Punjabi taste then this is the place. We recently did a catering with them and the food was very economical and delicious. Highly recommended.
Good food
Absolutely loved the experience at Kulcha King! The food was rich, flavorful, and felt truly authentic. We tried the mix veg, dal makhani, and paneer sabji—each dish was perfectly cooked and packed with taste. The dal makhani was especially creamy and indulgent, while the paneer dish had just the right balance of spices. The quality, portion sizes, and overall presentation were impressive. Definitely a place we’d come back to again. Highly recommended for anyone craving delicious North Indian food!
Food was so flavourful and tasty. For the price, the quality was very good

They have beat amritsari kulcha . Good food hood service
I recently visited Kulcha King and had an amazing experience! The kulchas here are absolutely awesome—perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chole and chutneys served alongside were flavorful and complemented the kulchas really well. The service was friendly and quick, which made the whole experience even better. The place is clean, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting—great for enjoying a meal with family and friends. If you’re a kulcha lover or just looking to try something delicious, Kulcha King is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended!
Delicious food and service was fast
Absolutely unacceptable experience. I found a hair clearly stuck in my food, which completely ruined the meal. As if that wasn’t bad enough the water bottle provided was filthy. The rubber seal around the cap had visible dirt and buildup, making it obvious it hadn’t been cleaned properly in a long time. It’s not just unpleasant-it shows a serious lack of basic hygiene in the kitchen, here am attaching the pictures.
I enjoyed really well… the service is so fast and good .. The girl infront is very nice and polite..
Loved the food!! Absolutely devoured it. Very generous with the butter 🤌🏻
