Because of the Sherbrooke Restaurant Week, we decided to go to restaurant L’entr’amis. Open since 2000 in Sherbrooke East, it is a fine bistro, inspired by the French and International cuisine.

The Sherbrooke Restaurant Week, where 12 restaurants offer table d'hote at a friendly price during 10 days, helps promote the local gastronomy and make good food accessible.

First, when we arrived for dinner, we were greeted warmly by our hostess, but in a rather empty room. Fortunately, as the evening wore on, and the group that came to celebrate Christmas arrived, we enjoyed the chic bistro atmosphere. Beware, if you expect a head-to-head dinner with your love, the lack of privacy and noise might bother you.

The special table d'hôte for the Sherbrooke Restaurant Week included three services for $35. The bring your own wine concept at L’entr’amis has helped us to save a few extra dollars.

After a brief menu explanation by our hostess, we took so time to better explore the menu. It offers several types of meat, including kangaroo, and a seven-course tasting menu.

Before the first course, we were treated with a warm bread with humus and oil sundried tomatoes that got us for more.

We quickly received the entry, a creamy lacquered maple and orange pork and shiitakes. While the pork tasted good, it was not soft enough.

As the main course, the chef had prepared a trout (from les Bobines) with chorizo sausage from Scotstown, gyros sauce and cucumber cream. Not being familiar with trout, we took advantage of the Sherbrooke Restaurant Week opportunity with pleasure to find out what it is. The fish was tender and the vegetables completed very well together.

After a short break very nicely offered by our hostess, we enjoyed the dessert: chocolate, mid-bitter ganache, crunchy pearls and a carrot marmalade. Simply delicious!

In conclusion, thanks to the event, we had a wonderful evening at the restaurant L’entr’amis. In addition, we discovered a number of local products, including the trout.

The verdict: we recommend L’entr’amis for an outing with friends, work colleagues or a group.
