There are only a few hours to wait before you can return to the dining rooms of your favorite restaurants! Finally! What a relief! As much for consumers as for restaurateurs. Despite everything, they fear an increase in spending and a drop in income. This is why a very large majority of Quebec cities will give them a boost.
For example, most cities have recently announced plans to make certain streets strictly pedestrian. In this way, the restaurants will be able to increase the surface area of ??their terrace which will now be able to encroach on the public highway.
In some places, citizens will be able to consume alcohol in certain parks and on pedestrian streets.
Also, in the Old Capital, Mayor Labeaume and his team have chosen to reduce the cost of permits for temporary restaurants.
In Sherbrooke, Wellington Street North will be redeveloped into an urban oasis in order to provide convivial spaces to the population while respecting the standards of social distancing.
“We are working on this friendly street project in close collaboration with the traders concerned. Sherbrookers will most likely stay in the region during their summer vacation and they will be able to enjoy a completely reinvented public space in the heart of our city, ”said Sherbrooke mayor Steve Lussier.
Picnic tables, closets, benches and flower boxes will be set up in the urban oasis as well as in the Strathcona square opposite the town hall.
These facilities will be in place from the end of June and until October 17, 2020.
